More Angels & Demons

I can't get enough of the Illuminati, Robert Langdon and the 4 elements of science.

After I finished Dan Brown's Angels & Demons - I went on to Google about the Masons, The Illuminati, Galileo and even Bernini.

I can only say Dan Brown is really knowledgeable in all these historical stuff to write such a great book. I had a really hard time digesting information =S

If you want a taste of the movie (which totally makes you crave for moreeeee) click here

Half past six

It's a popular Singaporean slang for "not satisfactory".

But I never knew about the story behind it. Well until this morning.

While waiting for Yicui to arrive at the airport (was supposed to send Sherina and her off), I went to one of the bookstores (or is that the only one?) to pick on something to read.

Yes, yours truly finds reading latest books for free in bookstores extremely thrilling. Especially when you know you might get caught anytime.

I dunno if you know about the series of books (ok maybe not series, about 3) written by a British humour columnist, Neil Humphreys, who worked in Singapore for 10 years before moving on to Australia.

The books he wrote:
1) Singapore - Notes from an even smaller island
2) Scribbles from the same island
3) Final notes from a Great Island

It's hilarious to see Singapore from Briton's point of view. Haha.

His favourite slang word?

Half past six.

"It actually has sexual meaning behind it. It was used to refer to a male *ahem* where being hung at half past six is depressing, at midnight means good, and requires medical attention at a quarter after three."

HAHA.

I will never look at "half past six" the same way again.

Of readings and jade

I have a lot of readings to do. Besides those for academic purpose, I have a pile of these:
:S

If you guys are wondering how the famous pirated books from China look like, it's hard to believe the quality is pretty good:

I got the Google book for $4 and World is Flat for about $6. Damnnnnn cheap.

Current read:
The 33 attitudes to have before 35 years old. Hahahahah.

Went out for tea with my parents, Grant Aunt and Grand Uncle. It was nice catching up with the oldies although half the time I don't quite get them coz they were speaking in Hainanese. Hahahaha.

We dropped by the jade shop and they started talking amongst themselves and the Jade Shop auntie.

I got bored and started playing with the jade-carved animals:
And then it became an animal farm:
I think my mum saw that I was rather bored..hahahaha..so she started to ask the Auntie what jade suit me.

Since I'm an ox, I should carry with me rat, snake and rooster, esp rat coz it's Ox's best friend. Hmm.

So in the end, she made this for me:
My mum say it's a gift for me and then she made one for my sister too.

Thanks ma!

May the dark force, be with me

I have decided it's time for me to move over to the dark side.

Literally.

That's the new blog skin! I realise it's easier on the eyes. Hahaha.

People who have been following my blog knows how often I change my blog skin. Almost every 3 mths. Shows how fickle-minded a person I am -_-.

Yea la, I like changes la. 我爱新鲜感 cannot ah. *sticks tongue out*

Just started reading the book I got from the library. "Monkey Business: Swinging through the Wall Street Jungle". It's brilliant! I would recommend it to people who are keen on the well sought-after Investment Banking job. I am not, but I am enjoying the book. It's so damn witty.
