That's what friends (and mumsie) are for

Someone up there has been kind to me, to bless me with a god-sent mum and circle of friends =)

Thanks to all the sweet Whatsapp messages, Yu*Hui is back up on her feet! Yes you know who you are, you, you and you. And yes that includes you, my dear ex-colleague! He has been hearing my rants for days man I swear.  Di was sweet, she called even when she was away in Phuket for a holiday.

I'll do my best - whether I get the final confirmation or not, I'll always bear in mind what my ex-ex-boss, V*ikram told me.

At the end of the day, it's just a job. Your well-being should be more important than anything else.

Happy Hoppity Bunny New Year!!!

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!!

May the new year bring even more joy and blessings! =)

Love from sis

Got a message from my flu/sore throat bed bound sister this morning.

"Sometimes the best way to get over something is to find something else to focus on and not repeatedly telling youself not to think about it. The more you talk about it, the more attention you give it. At the end of the day, it will seem like a bigger deal than it really is.

Have a good day."

Thanks sis.

Thank you.

Blogged from my BB

Goodbye Uncle Choo

First of all, a great 2010 everyone!

On a sadder note, my uncle passed away on the morning of January 6th after having a stroke while driving a few days earlier.

Goodbye Uncle Choo, you will be sorely missed for your contagious laughter and continous joy you always bring us. Daddy has always enjoyed your company a lot.

May you be blessed in heaven.

Thanks sister =D

The blog entry says it all

The hidden prodigy

I loved to draw when I was a kid. One reason was because I enjoy proving to myself I have artistic talents, and the other reason was I love having my mum smile at me proudly because I inherited her artistic genes (which made up the loss of not inheriting her talent in Geography. Oh don't get me started on lousy direction sense.)

I found some of my drawing sheets in my cupboard while clearing out some junk this afternoon. I remembered I drew these 12 Zodiac Signs on the CNY eve when I was 8 years old. My mum was fussing around in the kitchen while I was drawing away in the dining room. I even remembered the reason why I drew.

My mum was praising about my aunts' artistic abilities in decorating their own homes with Zodiac cut-outs every year. And that praise sparked off a little fighting spirit in me. I told her I can too if she wants. Haha
I totally love the dragon I drew in the 2nd picture.

Even after 14 years, I am still in awe how I drew them.

2 sides to a coin

My boss called a moment ago. Reminding me to count in the 3 hours I clocked today at the office, although I didn't do anything much besides help shift some things at the new office and buying lunch for everyone with him.

He mentioned that he had a feeling I would be embarrassed to include that 3 hours because I didn't do any proper accounting work. He was right.

"I treat you like my daughter and friend at the same time. I don't wish to have you worried about that money issue. I just want to be a blessing to you and your family until you get the job you want. And I've been praying very hard that you get the job you want too. Because you are like my daughter, but yet somebody I can joke with as a friend. If you don't count in that 3 hours, I'll very heartbroken."
I was very touched. Because even in his dire financial situation, he always wanted to be a blessing to me. It reminds me of what happened this morning.
I was pouring water out from a flask when the lid came loose and water went splashing all over the table.
Father: "Can't you be more careful with the flask?"
Me: "I didn't know the lid was loose."
Father: "That didn't happen when I pour water!"
Me: "Then I must be down on my luck."
*I took a cloth to wipe the table*
Father: "See now water is all over the table!"
*continue wiping*
Father: "No wonder you can't get a job! Coz you are always acting like such a know-it-all!"
*finish wiping and left the kitchen with my drink*
What did I do to deserve that? I dunno. I only know it made me cry 10 min later in the bathroom.
It made me wonder. Boss mentioned before I'm like a daughter, but he can share with me whatever he can't share with his kids. From another perspective, I am my father's daughter.
Is he like my boss - who holds back good words from his children?
I dunno. I only know I've always hated my father's verbal abuse although I know half the time he doesn't really talk with his grey matter activated.
But whatever, I'm going down for a run.

My 200 marks mother

Me: "Can I have one fishball from your fishball noodle?"
Mum: "Ok can."

*Put one fishball in my porridge*

Me: "Thanks ma."

*Put another fishball into my porridge*

Mum: "Make that 100 marks. So give you 2 fishballs."

Me: "Ma, there's no 1! That's 2 zeroes."

*Put in one beansprout*

Me: "HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

*Put in one more beansprout*

Photobucket

Mum: "Now it's 200 marks!"

Mother's Day Part 2

Evidently, there was a Part 1.

My sister bought a cake to celebrate the REAL Mother's Day. (The previous one was just a gimmick to cheat my Grandma into eating out. Haha.):
Photobucket

My Grandma and my mum:
Photobucket

Me: "Aiyo too dark too dark."

Photobucket

Me: "Ah ma's eyes are closed!"
Ah ma: "HAHA."

Photobucket

Finally.

Julianne came shortly after and gobbled up the rest of the cake. She brought us something she bought in Redang too:
Photobucket
Photobucket
She had a 3-day trip to Redang, including a diving trip for just $100!!!

Such a steal.

Julianne in her blinding "I love Bangkok" shirt:
Photobucket
I dunno why she just can't take a proper picture without looking..abnormal. Haha.

This week was Julianne's mum's turn to treat everyone. And of course, a family dinner without cereal prawns is about as complete as crescent:
Photobucket

And of course, curry fishhead!!:
Photobucket

Happy (VERY LATE) Mother's Day!

Happy ah ma and mama day

Photobucket

Julianne's 1.7m tall. You know how they say people shrink as they grow older? I wonder how tall ah ma was when she was in her prime :S

Sis treated us all to a good dinner last Sunday. All in the name of good old Happy ah ma and mama day.

We had the regular:
Photobucket

And some new stuff like curry fish head:
Photobucket

Some pig trotter thing that my uncle ordered:
Photobucket

And us kiddos' fav, cereal prawns:
Photobucket

And what's a good dinner without good old Sarsi for company:
Photobucket

Great dinner, thanks sis! Damage done:
Photobucket
Well I can only say we are one family with a hearty appetite.

PhotobucketHappy Ah ma and mama day! =))

Home Alone 记

Ok I wasn't exactly home alone.

My parents joined my aunt for a one-day trip to Malaysia and they left the house at like 5am this morning. Won't be home till late tonight I guess.

Woke up to a note left by my mum in the living room:
Photobucket
Ah, haven't seen this kinda notes from my mum since I was in primary school I think. That was the period of time when she was still giving tuition and both my sister and I had loads of tuitions on our own. We would wake up to some notes, telling us where our breakfast was and what time she will be home.

I changed and went out for breakfast at Mac's while my sister was still sleeping.

Pig.

Haha.

Decided to try McGriddles:
Photobucket
Pretty nice! But I think the taste of the maple syrup was a bit too much by the time I was finishing it. Think I will stick with the original Sausage McMuffin with egg. Haha.

I spent about half an hour in the fastfood outlet sipping my tea and reading my book.

Great way to spend a Sunday morning man :))))

On my way back home, I got these at the mama-shop:
Photobucket
Haven't had these for the longest time! Used to eat a lot of such snacks as a child while waiting for the bus. Lol.

Got back home and woke my sister up with a lot of noise. It was near noon already by the way! I have all the reason to wake her up.

She cooked instant noodles for herself and we watched the re-run of HK drama 突围行动 together.

Then Julianne came online:
Photobucket
Was supposed to go Granny's but I had exams tmr (yucks) so I decide to give it a miss.

So the final decision was, JULIANNE IS COMING OVER TO OUR PLACEEEE!!!!! :))) It's been so long since she came to our place.

I did some studying before she came (coz I know she'll probably make a lot of noise and I can totally forget about studying).

Julianne came around 4pm and the first thing she did was...
Photobucket
Go through our fridge -_-

Julianne: "Why does the fridge look so small? I thought it was pretty big."
Me:" You realised you grew quite a lot in size since the last time you came?"
Julianne: "Oh ya.."

-_-

She went into the bathroom, our bedrooms and marvel at how big the rooms look when the 3 of us used to be able to squeeze in one and still had plenty of space left. Hahaha. Now put 3 of us in the room and it looks..squeezy. Haha.

Yea, that's about how long since Julianne dropped by our place. Lol.

She dug out my Tarot Cards:
Photobucket
I almost forgot they exist! And she still remembered that I bought them 4 years ago! My goodness.

She started to play with it:
Photobucket

My sister was reading off the predictions for the cards from this book:
Photobucket

Julianne listening:
Photobucket

Me?
Photobucket
Trying to study with all the noise behind me. Haha.

After 1 hour, I gave up and joined them. Hahaha. It was hard concentrating when the 2 of them were laughing and Julianne whining over the predictions.

So as the owner of the Tarot Cards, I played the "Ask the question in your heart and pick the card" game:
Photobucket

I deciphered a couple of her problems and went off to study again while she entertains herself. Lol.

After she packed the cards up, we talked about childhood stuff over cups of root beer (too bad there wasn't any Sarsi, it was like our childhood drink! Or was it just mine?), and how we used to squeeze together in the bedroom with our Grandma when they came over to our place to spend school holidays. Those were the good old days :))

Julianne left around 6 plus to meet her girlfriend and my sis and I decide it was time to order dinner! Decided on KFC :)))) It's been so long since we ordered delivery :)))

Dinner!
Photobucket

Now it's time for the Zinger burgers, drumsticks, popcorn chicken, whipped potato and coleslaw :))) And the Sunday movie blockbusters of switching between Channel 5's Flight Plan and Channel U's Death Note 2 :)))

Yea and I gotta study more later -_-.

What a low blow.

Quote of the day: "愿望是半个生命, 而冷漠是半个死亡." - 纪伯仑

Of growing old and gorgeous kids

Started the day off at 9.30am :S. Hardly had enough sleep coz I was obsessed with...

The flight of the bumblebee!!!:

It's by Berlin Philharmoniker, conducted by Zubin Mehta. I can totally see how crazy the running notes can be on the scores for the clarinetists and flutists lo! :S

I remember back in TPJC Band, Kiong Wee was the only one who could play the whole song on the xylophone and he got my respect right on the spot la. Yea and that explains why I always tell him to play over and over. Hahahaha.

I would love to hear it live!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! I can almost visualize a huge bumblebee flying nearby. Hahahaa.

And then after I was done with the Orchestra version, I went on to Maksim's version on the piano:
This version was done live and it sounded SUPERB~~~~~.

And yea I was pretty much awake after bumblebee -_-.

The first family we visited was Grandma :) Where we pigged out again like crazy. Hahahah.

Then after that was my Grandaunt's place. As usual, the first thing I do after wishing everyone a great lunar new year is to check if Uncle Wei Quan has any new pets. Hahahaha. Besides the conventional rabbit, he used to have iguanas and other weird reptiles. Hahaha. This time there were 2 more members:
The rat-like mouse. (eh, rat=mouse right...hmm..dunno what to call it...hahaha)

and:
The hamster my uncle picked it up from the void deck. Hahaha.

Uncle BoDong and me:
Ahh, I practically grew up with him, Uncle Weiquan and Aunt Zhong Yi. It;s rather obvious Yu Hui lacks slp. Hahahaha.

Uncle BoDong insist I have my height taken down on the kitchen's wall:
I make sure I grow taller next year. Hahahahaha.

After which was the mega new year gathering at my 大伯's place. I can easily collect 15 red packets there. Hahaha. Coz everyone from my dad's side gather there! Hahahaha.

There were people in the front hall:
There were people in the dining area:
There were people everywhere~!!!!!! Hahahaha

All of us settled down, I believe near to 60 to 70 of us in the living room, watching Jing Han(The eldest son of my 大伯's 3rd daughter)'s lion dance performance for CNY in his kindergarten:

That's Han han (his baby name) and his sister, Wei Ting in purple watching his performance:
Aren't they the cutest thing on earth. Hahaha.

Danny came along, and man, he gotta be one of my favourite cousins around. Hahaha. Hard to believe he is 35 years old already. He was the only one who didn't go into conventional professional jobs like the rest of my cousins (like bankers, translators, professors, doctors or engineers). He started his own band in Australia and went pretty big there. Had his own bar and restaurant in Singapore. He was telling me that business is expanding fast and I was so glad for him :)

Congrats Danny! :)

He drove a damn funky car..hahaha..it's vintage! Lol.

大伯: "Aiyo, that look like some playboy car!"
Everyone: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA."

Danny walks in with his mum, brother, sister-in-law and 3 children(his bro's)

大伯: "Hello playboy! Happy Chinese New Year!"
Danny: "Yea yea yea..hahahahah!"

Gawd I love his car!

That's Danny with his hat. Hahaha. And his brother's kids:

Me: "I wanna ride in your car! Will I have a chance?"
Danny: "Sure! Just give me a call anytime! We can go for a ride."
Me: "Wah!!!! Ok!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA."

I wanna go for a ride with Danny! :)

Meet my twin, Wei Ting, who's late for 20 years:
She's the baby girl of the 3rd daughter of my 大伯. She has the same birthday as me! But yea 20 years later. Hahahaa.

I realised something today. That is all my nieces and nephews all are pretty good looking! I foresee a few more years down the road, I will be seeing hunks and babes walking around. Hahaha. More hunks coz majority of the kids were boys. Hahaha

And I learned yet another thing today...Boys can be such destructive people :S.

3 boys in the video. The one in bright red chinese costume is Jing Han. The one in dark red top and khakis pants is Zi Jie (my favourite boy coz he love following me around and he's sooooo cute!!!!..hahahaha), and then the one in blue shirt is his younger bro, Zi Cong.

As what their fathers call them, "house destructors". Hahahaha. I still remember their fathers saying if ever we need anyone to tear our house down, please give them a call. They will do it for free. Hahahaa.

I got real cute relatives man. Lol

Me: "Zi Jie, I am leaving now le. See you in one years' time k?"
Zi Jie: "Orhhh."
Me: "I want to see you grow taller by then k?"
Zi Jie: "Sure! 100% growth k!"
Me: "Promise?"
Zi Jie: "Promise."

Zi Jie is soooo sweet. Hahahahaha.

I heart everyone la! :)

A1 A2

Say hello to my alter ego, A1 A2
I've been using them to say mean things to my sister and insist I didn't say it.

*Wiggle my toes so the turtle's head moves*
A1: "She's so fat."
A2: "I agree!"
*My sister turn to look at me*
Sister: "Thanks ah."
Me: "I didn't say that. *pointing at my slippers* They said it."

And so she will roll her eyes and throw her hands up in the air with a god-may-care "whatever". Hahaha.

But glad to know she has learned to live with their existence.

When I go to bathe

Sister: "Why are you leaving them outside?"
Me: "Coz I'm bathing?"
Sister: "Don't turtles swim?"
Me: "-_-"
Sister: "Oh how can you leave your alter egos outside?!"
Me: "-_-".

I left them by the dining table before I left the house.

Sister: "Ooo, your alter ego is watching us.
Me: "Yea, don't eat my CNY goodies."

I love my alter egos! :)

Heartbroken

I remember missing my Grandpa's last one year ago. I never asked, never probed about what actually happened. I recall just arriving at the hospital alone, stoned, and just being swept along the flow of everything.

Came across this post in my sister's blog. Out of the 3 of us, she was the only one who was there at my Grandpa's last.

Finally, I knew what it was like. And it made me cry. I cried reading her post. It was like back to 12th January 2007, when I was running all the way to the hospital in the rain.

Tears or raindrop, I could no longer decipher.

Gong gong, we love you. We really do.

One year anniversary

Today marks the 1st anniversary of my Grandpa's death. Was reading my cousin's blog, just dawned to me how fast time has flew.

Jul, don't mind me quoting some parts k:)

"爷爷 started falling, suffered from partial memory loss, eventually succumbed to the rest of the symptoms of Dementia. He was often admitted into the hospitals for observations/check ups/surgeries and he hated hospital. He would cry and beg us to bring him home. His limbs especially his legs motor power were weak and soon he had to walk with a walking stick, gradually a walking frame and finally he couldn't walk anymore but to be on a wheelchair. In the event of deteriorating health, my 婆婆 (grandmother) suffered the most whom had to manually lift him off the bed and onto the wheelchair vice-versa, feed him meals, bathe him, change his adult diapers, cooking and washing for the family of 3 in the house. She lost so much weight and it broke my heart."

"3 years 爷爷 remained bedridden. Few months before his death, he was not stabilized at all, with frequent hospital trips with burning hot fever and difficulty in breathing. There was lung infection, and he was on portable oxygen therapy. He was admitted 3 days before he died, diagnosed with pneumonia (which is highly suspicious due to nastrogastric tube feeding which may lead to aspiration pneumonia). It felt as though he was on the verge of death and we discussed and I had my dad to affirm with the doctor for DNR (Do Not Rescuscitate). There isn't any use to keep him suffering any longer.."

"I missed it. I was on the 1st floor when he left. I was too late. I saw his lifeless body on the bed, I couldn't cry. My dad and cousin were crying. I was the third to arrive. Soon, all of them came with 婆婆。婆婆cried so badly, and I broke down immediately. The loss of a loved one is so in- compensable and irreplaceable. I felt so badly for 婆婆 and rushed over to console her and standing beside her makes the space even smaller and depressive. It was so depressing to hear her cries you just felt like life isn't fair."

Like my cousin, I missed his last breath. I was in school.

"婆婆’s weepings were hitting the spot with the prayers and it was so depressing I didn't think I could go on.

The journey had to end with all his friends bade him good bye. He was a well-loved gentleman by all, on the 3rd night it was so crowded and busy. It felt like a restaurant, serving drinks and peanuts.

It all ended with weepings, loud wails and shoutings of "公公! 爸!"."

Yes, once in a while I still discuss with my sis, that my Grandma's weepings were th heartbreaking ones.

It's been a year. So fast. That heartbreaking moment. Wow, one year.

Be happy, Gong. :)

Currylicious

Meant to post this earlier but I was lazy to load photos from my camera..ahahahahah

Maybe I should start using my K800i instead..since it's so much easier to load -_- (yea and buy a digicam for wad...hahah..but I always seemed to misplace the cable..)

Had a strong craving for mummy's curry chicken the other day and she decided that maybe she will just make it the next day (I think was a Saturday. Since I home to take photo of it -_-)

I can only say, my mum still treat me like a disciple -_-. No chance for action. Hahaha

I cut one okay...dun underestimate the skills of a of a of a...disciple who got retained at the same level for the last 17 yrs -_- (yes I started my discipleship when I was 4..which I ended up chopping my own thumb and was barred from the kitchen for about 2 yrs..wahahahah!)

This is what I've been doing in the last 17 years. It's about time I move on seriously.

And look what I did with the curry mix:

To which my dad said it looked like crap. Hahahahaha.

Look, shit ball in action:
