Back from the mountains!

I am home!

After a grueling climb up Mount Kinabalu (and rewarded with an amazing view), a warm and welcoming home-stay with a local family, a landslide, a missed flight and running across 2 airports trying to get all our asses back to Singapore, I'm finally home. Cheers to my comfortable bed, hot water baths and healthy oxygen levels! The little things we take for granted.

Aching all over like no one's business. Will post photos really soon! :)

Watch carefully

Weihao shared this site with us and pretty much that's what all of us have been doing (ok fine just me) these days. Observing weather changes and basically praying it WILL NOT rain.

The peak (4,100 metres off sea levels) is expected to experience minimal showers during the time of our climb (Sunday/Monday). Did a quick Google check and it seems 10-13mm of rain is not substantial. Well it better not be.

My bestie went for the climb last April and it rained for 18 hours straight. She tore 5 ponchos on her way up and one of her climb mates almost had hypothermia. I'm definitely taking my Columbia Whirlibird with me.

I need to go learn some anti-rain dance or something. On a side note, kinda excited it's going to be 0 to 4 degrees at the peak. Just no rain please.

Conclusion of the day

I took a day off to shop around for my hiking gear (I am so last minute it's worrying hahahaha). The end result is a 40L hiking bag (Gregory!). Yes, that's the only thing I bought after shopping the whole day. It's a little pricey after some price comparisons but it's really light weight and the quality stood out. Since having my backpack disintegrate while hiking/climbing is not a priority on my list, I decided to pay that little premium.

At least there's motivation to climb/hike more in future! It's all about the returns on investment man.

Terribly exhausted now as well since all these camping/hiking/climbing gear shops are always at some secluded corners of Waterloo Street or Beach Road. Best part? I lost my way so many times despite using Google Navigation.

Conclusion of the day: I seriously suck at this activity call shopping and also an app called Google Maps.
