The bubble tea
My Snr Director, V*ikram, as an Indian national who spent most of his life in USA, hardly have an idea what is bubble tea. Every time he sees us drink, he will go: "What is that? What is the black stuff? Where did you get it?"
So today we decided to get him bubble tea while getting lunch for him.
C*hristine: "V*ikram, we are getting bubble tea, do you want one too?"
V*ikram: "Oh nice! But I don't know what I want to drink. Hmm, we go get it together after lunch?"
C*hristine: "Ok!"
And so after lunch he came over to our tables and said :" It's time for bubble tea!"
HAHA.
And so we walked down together for our bubble tea trip, talking about work and what we do after work everyday. I had the regular red pearl milk tea, C*hristine had her regular sour plum green tea.
V*ikram: "Is the sour plum green tea sour?"
* silence*
V*ikram: "Ok I just asked a really dumb question."
Us: "HAHAHAHA!"
So I made our orders and V*ikram order Peppermint red tea.
V*ikram: "Oh this is really refreshing! The pearls are really chewy!"
Me: "Yeah but remember they have no nutritional values, just you know, carbs."
V*ikram: "Oh man, I didn't hear that."
Us: "HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH."
The lids of the drinks have really cute cartoons and everyone has a different country.
V*ikram: "What's your country?"
C*hristine: "I have Arab."
Me: "I have China."
V*ikram: "HAHAHAHAAH!" (Coz he recalled I refered China Chinese as PRCs and he thought it was really demeaning)
Me: "What about you?"
V*ikram: "I am an Eskimo."
Me: "HAHAHA. Eskimo huh."
V*ikram: "Yea! Darn, why am I an Eskimo."
Seriously the whole trip was just circulating around bubble tea, Singaporeans and explaining to V*ikram what "Kiasu" meant. It was just pure fun. LOL.
On our way back to office...
V*ikram: "I think everyone will be jealous of our bubble tea."
Me: "Hahaha, I'm sure V*ikram."
V*ikram: "Paul*a! We went to get bubble tea!"
Paul*a: "Oh I used to be really hooked to them too! Hahaha"
And it was another round of bubble tea talk.
Gosh my office people are really cute. LOL.
