And my path gets clearer

I was recommended for a job opportunity with rather active local developer - in their real estate investments department. It would involve a lot more interesting stuff than what I'm doing now, and most importantly, it will cover 2 more asset classes - commercial and residentials.

It was a dream come true.

Until the SVP could only offer me a 3 month contract before extending it. I asked for a full perm deal with a 3 month probation instead, where essentially his agenda remains unchanged but it mutually benefits us (he gets me and I get my dream role).

Then he broke the news that it was something beyond his control because it was set in place by the company (non-listed, family business - figure that out ;-) ). He mentioned he would love to give me what I asked for, but it's a company policy and he doesn't want to push it.

Either I'm not that valued OR that is how this company functions. And I have a feeling..he, as the SVP, might not be even the one deciding if I get to stay 3 months later. No matter how good I am :(

And so I said goodbye to this role. After my chat with the SVP and doing a little research before going down to his office for a little post-work chat on Friday, I became clearer on what I want to do. Hopefully CFA and a little fight for more valuation projects in my current role will help steer me closer.

Another one, a better opportunity will come along. I believe :)
