Confusion
A random colleague from another department posed this question to me during lunch - "do you get what your boss tries to tell you?"
I said no. She said "Same here. If I were to work under him I wouldn't know too."
For all the "right" things he mentioned about my previous report, it's all wrong now. Even the things he amended it himself, it's not right (and further elaborated on my wrong usage of word). I said "But this was what you told me previously, word for word." He replied "Well I'm saying you change it now."
I followed his previous reports in terms of format, I ended up with a "Who told you to look back? I told you not to look at my old models. I find it disturbing you don't follow instructions." And when I don't? I ended up with a "I've gave you enough examples to show you how it's done, why didn't you look at them?"
Every difficulty I encountered becomes MY problem and MY issue. It's disturbing. So I sought help from one of the directors who used to work in an investment bank, for a sample model I could use or infer from. So I came up with a new one and it became "WE came up with a new template".
I love my job. But I find it so hard to convey the same sentiments for my superior.
