I think I've found it!
A suitable body wash that is.
Sensitive skin and mild eczema are the two key conditions that have been plaguing me for the longest time. In my younger days, I erupt into rashes when my surroundings get too dusty or when the body wash I use are too strong (aka drying). So it kind of eliminates all the nice-smelling body washes out there in the market :( Hahaha. There was a stage of my life I was allergic to fruits like rambutan, banana, durian and lychees as well - pretty weird combination I say. Hahaha. Eczema conditions got worse during my university days when I was eating nonsense food and sleeping at crazy hours (wait, I can't even remember if I had any sleep during those days. Haha). I consulted endless number of western and TCM doctors - resulting in a period of time where I was drinking weird concoctions and eating meals that comprises mainly of vegetables (and only selected few) and fruits. It's not exactly a fun adventure I must say.
Besides being careful about the food and the beverages I take, I have to be careful with the skin products I use as well. The hunt for the perfect body wash is a never-ending quest for me. I've come to realize my body wash has to be paraben-free, sulfate-free (especially so for SLES and SLS - also known as Sodium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate) and mineral oil-free (for those that raves about being oil baths and hence great for skin). I'm sure I will discover more stuff along the way but so far these are the ones that really don't work for me.
For the longest time, Niks Professional Aroma Shower and Bath Oil served me well. I got it from my cousin's clinic after a brutal outbreak and I've never looked back. Hahaha. It's always the bath oil I turn to when I have eczema breakouts or when I am flying around like crazy for work and my skin goes all crazy on me due to extreme weather changes.
Was shopping around Watsons the other day (one of my favourite pastimes!) and I came across Palmer's Olive Butter Formula Renewing Body Wash.
They come in Sheabutter and Cocoa Butter as well but I figure I really don't want to smell like those two prior to going to bed. So I got the Olive Butter one instead. Okay granted it smells a little like playdough but it goes away after a while so it's fine.
I've yet to get any itchy patches and I've been using it for a week. Besides the above-mentioned Niks bath oil, it's by far the only body wash that really moisturizes the skin. Which means I can go without the body lotion and I don't feel my skin drying up! These are all good news for me. Haha.
The reviews look good too. Best part, they only cost SGD 9.90 per bottle. Taking into account I've purchased really expensive branded/rich body washes that promises you the moon and stars (and does not deliver) before, this price tag sounds really reasonable to me.
Disclaimer: But what may work for me, may not work for you. So research well before buying! :)
