Shanghai Trip - Part 1 (Day 1 and 2)

Hola! Time to update this space on the trip to Shanghai! :) As earlier posts mentioned, I popped by the city in late May/early June to visit the boy.

My flight was slightly delayed (as usual) and I landed at almost 1 a.m in the morning when I should have landed at around midnight. The arrival hall was crowded (due to a bunch of delayed flights) and I was trying my best to locate the boy.

I must say this helped a lot in locating him:

HAHAHAHAHA. I laughed so hard but it was a very sweet effort.

We proceeded to take a cab to his place (Modena Serviced Suites Putuo), which was around an 1 hour ride from the airport. I dozed off a little during the ride and soon we reached!

Occupational hazard. I can't help but take some shots of the property.

His unit! It's a studio apartment for 1 and split into 2 floors. The queen bed is upstairs with a sofa-bed in the living room. A tiny kitchen and bathroom is also on the ground floor.

I sent him a bunch of our photos, together with laundry string and wooden clothes peg during his birthday and this is the result!

I was exhausted from the flight and crashed almost immediately. So no more photos from here on the unofficial day 1 of my time in Shanghai.

The next day was a Saturday and it was the boy's laundry and gym day. Since most of the attractions, shopping areas and restaurants will be crowded, I agreed to the idea of staying in. I swear we are old farts already because we woke up around 9am and proceeded to chomp down some Quaker oats (without honey or sugar) and prep the rice cooker and other microwave-able food so those stuff could cook while we are away at the gym.

And here we are at the fancy gym after dumping his clothes into the laundrette on the same floor:

We came back an hour later with the washed laundry and proceeded to eat the healthiest homecook ever. Steamed egg with ikan bilis:

Surprisingly good! The boy informed that it's because he put in some pork bone broth in. Ah this one knows his way around the kitchen.

He also made some yummy drumlets (which he mentioned it's something he doesn't really eat since he's more of a chicken breast dude) because he knows I like them. Awwwwww.

After food, we didn't even both to change out of our gym gear (gross!) and headed out to the supermarket. I'm really getting the experience of his usual Saturdays here!

The supermarket is located within walk-able distance and I shall spam a series of very boring marketing photos here.

Told you guys we were old farts.

It's been a while since I last lived in China and their selection of  products never fail to amaze me.

We headed back with his groceries for the week (and some junk food for me!) and we proceeded with some really boring couple stuff like him washing his undies and I put out the clothes to dry.

Sorry guys I promise the rest of the Shanghai trip was very eventful!

The boy took me out to a restaurant nearby. Not entirely sure what their cuisine was but most of the dishes came out brown. HAHA.

Just in case you are not sure what we ordered, we ordered stir fried San Yao (Chinese Yam) on the far left, fried lotus root with minced meat (in the middle) and I can't remember what was the third. #memoryfail

We didn't finish the food because the serving was huge and being true blue Singaporeans, we packed them up for takeaway. Since his apartment was nearby, we went back home and left the packed food in the fridge.

Headed to the train station (the apartment is just next to the Lan Gao Road station on the 7th line) and went down to Chang Shou Road (which is a few stops away on the same line) for massage at a place where the masseurs are blind (Yulin Massage Parlor). No sleezy stuff and the rooms are clean and simple.

We went wandering around after the massage. There were a lot of roadside stalls in this area and they only start appearing at 9pm onwards.

The boy spotted a roadside game store - throw 12 darts and based on the number of hits, you get to pick a toy of choice.

The boy in action!

He managed a 9-hit and that got me a small bear. Not too bad!

That ended the first 2 uneventful days of my Shanghai trip. HAHAHA.

In all fairness, I did ask the boy why was the first day so boring and if he had forgotten to plan anything. It turned out he wanted me to have 2 days (with massage and just random walking and eating) of not rushing around.

So yes the remaining days will have some more interesting stuff ya! :)

Next up, day 3 in Shanghai Ling Shi Park!
