Good friends are gold

While struggling with bags of stuff to carry home from office, I received an unexpected phone call from an old friend - KP

He's currently doing his Masters in Cambridge. All the way from London! Shall not think about the phone bills for now. Haha

In the last 35 minutes, we talked about job hunts (since he's finishing school soon and since well I resigned without the next), about the world economy, about daily stuff and about karma and lucky people. I was brought back to the days we chatted endlessly about anything as flat mates in Beijing - very young, carefree and idealistic days.

"It's good to hear you sound much better now. I'm glad you moved on from the bad work experience." he said.

"Let me know when you are back! And we go for shots again! Hahaha. You are my only shots buddy now!"

Roar of laughters from the other side of the line. We hung up shortly since he needed lunch and I needed dinner.

Ah I miss my good friend.

Meeting the EMPs

If you are wondering what EMPs stands for - it's a term we Beijing interns came up for ourselves.

Emerging Markets People-s.

HAHA.

Met A*manda and S*hou W*oon up for brunch over at PS C*afe today - had awesome catch up!!!

Too bad M*eng and KP weren't around.

A*manda! I'll pray you get the job of your dream and you can treat us.

Haha

Emerging Markets People (EMPs)

E.M.P (pronounced as "EMP"eror)- That's the name Amanda came up with after commenting that "Beijing people" just sound totally off. Hahaha.

The China gang met up for dinner at Chinatown. How apt. Hahahaha.

It was bloody packed!
We settled for Zhi Char at some place that Kian Ping suggested. It was so much fun catching up :)

In view of our habits

Kian Ping: "Yu Hui still likes to eat egg."
Me: "And you still like to eat fried onions."
Amanda: "It's amazing how much you know about a person after living together man."
Me and KP: "Hahahahaha."

Oh man, those were the days of 旺民居 (the restaurant we dine damn often in Beijing) and 新九龙. Hahahaha.
Me, Amanda, Miranda

After dinner was dessert at this pretty old chinese dessert shop. As usual, I have my
black sesame paste. That's 2 days in a row of blackie paste! :S

Shou woon: "Is the paste nice?"
Me: "Yea it's really nice."
Shou Woon: "Then I take black sesame paste too."
*our orders arrived*
Shou Woon: "My goodness, it's so black!
Me: "Totally!"
Shou Woon: "I'm drinking ink :S"
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA."

Yea, It's really black. Hahaha.

Group photo is like a must everywhere we go. Hahaha.

On me not having enough dirty jokes in my life
Me: "Hey look at that, Temple street is like named 登婆街. Sounds terrible."
Kian Ping: "Yea like what were they thinking? Mounting her?"
*1 second of silence from me*
Me: "YOU SUCK LA TAY KIAN PING!"
Kian Ping, Meng Choon, Shou Woon: "WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!"
Me: "My goodness!"
Meng Choon: "She hasn't had a good dose of dirty jokes from us for the longest time."
Me: "I don't need them! I have become good once again, after I left you guys lo."
Meng Choon: "She's saying she has turn into a nun."
Me: -_-

Those were the days -_-. Hahahaha.

As what Amanda says, now we are left with Brazil, Russia and India. Hahahaha.

Go EMPs! :)

Beijing suddenly sounds very big

I just went to see Ricky Tang (the Office of Career Services personnel for internships in China and Hong Kong) with my other 2 to-be colleagues, Damien and Meng Choon to check out on accommodations in Beijing.

My working area will be in Haidian District, which is also known as the Silicon Valley of Beijing (or is it China? I can't remember..) I can't stay with Yunjia le..coz she will be working at the Industrial Park at the bottom of Chaoyang..which is so freaking far (like a lot of Singapore-s away from my working area...hahaha)

Haidian District has 8 of China's top universities centered in the area and is filled with...hahaha...China talents. Time for some socializing when I go there man...hahaha...Ricky Tang says being in Beijing is more fun than Shanghai coz every weekend sure got places to visit..hahaha..woohoo! But provided I have the time too..ahhaha..hopefully.

Ricky Tang showed us the map of Beijing and I got a pretty good shock, it's at least 4-5 times of Singapore...each district is about the size of Singapore...wah. and from the apartment he got for us and the working place, without traffic jam is 45 min..45 min!!!! and it's rare not to jam in Beijing. I guess I probably hafta leave house at 5am to go to work..ahhaha

Oh ya,saw Shuting on Friday...and...she says it feels like she is talking to a stranger...ahhaha..oh well..my nose is still puffy..same for the cheeks around the nose. It will take me 12 weeks to totally de-swell. I will only reach 6th week on this coming Friday. So let's not be a little too ambitious. Buahaha..

Ok, this week will be hell week. same for next. My schedule book is so packed, I couldn't put in another item in ANY of the boxes. It just look like a disgusting mess of words lo. I can't even spot any single thing in one glance. I hafta stare for a while. Will post a picture of it some day. hhaha..
