2nd day of CNY: Trying very hard not to feel hungry
Today I went out visiting, but only in the morning. Lack of proper food makes me tired easily so I only visited 2 groups of relatives this morning, namely at my granny's place and my grandaunt's place. (yes although Ah Gong's funeral is still within 100 days, we are allowed to visit each other.)
I didn't talk much anywhere since it took effort to even mumble properly. So I tried to focus on my soup instead. Grandma gave a special ang bao. Inside was a $25 note that was even older then tha Birds Series one. It was the Orchids Series. She said Ah Gong was the one who collected all those and kept it in the wardrobe. So she's giving them out in ang baos to all grandchildren. It's valuable and we can all remember Ah Gong :)
Grandaunt was nice. She cooked my favourite potato with carrots soup, added some pork for more nutrients. My mum mashed potato and carrots thru a sieve (yea basically the mashed potato and carrots were almost level with 'powder'...hahah) and I got a thicker soup for lunch. Ma say lidat I won't feel hungry so fast :) Anyway, Granduncle cooked curry chicken (my fav!), braised pork (OMG!),fried chicken and nuggets (kill me....) and my fav Hainan veggie dish...so I stood dere with my soup and literally drool la...hahahah...my mum filled her plate with food and brought it over for me to.....SMELL...hahaha..coz I told her my status has been elevated to that of God-like, I smell can already...hahahaha...
But Grandaunt say when I am well, Granduncle will cook again!!!!! Yeah!!! That's another feast to look out for! She also agreed to bake another butter cake just for me when I recover!!! Yeah! Ma promise she will try to preserve as much CNY goodies as possible, so I can haf belated CNY feast when I recover fully =) Grandaunt say as long as I recover well with no complications, she will cook anything that I wanna eat :) Felt so freaking loved :D
11th day post op and the swelling has gone down quite a bit. But the cheeks and nose area is still rather swollen. (yea maybe that's why my cousin say if he were to meet me downstairs, he won't recognize me. Argh.) According to people who do upper jaw surgeries, upper area of the face require a longer bit of time to recover becoz of all the constant moving with the swallowing of saliva and stuff. So lower jaw tend to recover faster. I discovered something funny today while trying to exercise my tongue today. There's tis area of open flaps under my tongue..i haf no idea what is that but after 'playing' with it for a while, I tasted a bit of blood and decide maybe I shldn't do it again.
When I was first discharged, I was a bit numb on my chin and my right upper lip. Now my upper lip's feelings are starting to come back because I can feel it tingles sometimes(and I can feel myself touching it). The chin is recovering a little slower though but I can feel it coming back. Only 11th day. Yu Hui has a long way to go..hahah
Anyone has bone fractures before? Any idea how long it takes for bones to heal and be back to normal again? (so I have a rough guideline..)
Yu Hui is officially 44kg now...argh..That makes a freaking BMI of 17.6...noooooo...I think maybe I should start drinking melted butter or something...Yu Hui is tired of being hungry la..
And I am getting sick of Horlicks, Ribena, creamy soups and now, even half boiled eggs. I am starting to switch to Milo although it kinda promote production of mucous but I am seriously dying of food boredom.
Worried about my Week 9 presentation. Comes to the worst, I guess my grp has to do with one less presenter :(. I think I was too optimistic with the speed of being able to talk properly post op. But we are at the start of Week 8, who knows...I might be able to present properly by Week 9 :)
Ok, now..i wanna go find new things to eat...oh..i mean drink...aahhaaha
