Talking and not talking sure make a difference
I had my arch bars removed yesterday morning. I thought it won't be painful coz I thought the wires that were securing the arch bars were wound around the braces so it won't be much of a hassle to haf them removed. WRONG. The wires securing the arch bars....were like dental floss between all my teeth!!!!!!!
OS: "Ok I will unscrew the wires, dun move ok."
Man it was damn difficult not to move becoz he was pulling all the wires out..and they felt like metal dental floss going through all the teeth!...It was difficult not to fidget ard lo...hahaha...
See! The blood inbetween the teeth after the arch bars is removed. Argh
Oh and no one seemed to believe I got an MC for not talking. Hahahah..ok...evidence! I can only say besides having a funky handwriting...my surgeon has a funky signature too..hahaha
And now I truly understand why he wanted me to shut up. On Wednesday I didn;t talk much because I had my arch bars removed in the morning and I had lessons from noon all the way to 6.45pm. So I had an empty stomach, an achy face and was super not in the mood to talk. And I din swell up much! Jiahui could recognize me in one glance.
But today, I got a little too confident of myself and spoke way too excessive (ok if u consider trying very hard to pronounce words properly excessive tokking) and I could my cheeks and nose area start to swell up. The whole nose area became really tight and I could feel my braces pressing against my lips. Ok, big warning to shut up.
And then the next thing I know was, within the next hr, I had 4 friends walked past me and not recognizing me! They took one look, frowned as if trying to see if I'm Yu Hui. Then I din wave or say hi coz I was too hungry or too lazy to talk. They looked away and look back again. Hahahaha...sorry peepz!
Joyce was damn cute. She walked past me, looked at me. Waved and said :"Yu....Hui...is u rite?"..hahahaha!
Oh anyway, I read a pretty nice book yesterday.
My surgeon, Dr Raymond Peck, apparently saw that I was really bored waiting for the orthodontist to come and have a look at me before he have the wires removed, he lent me a book. Man I nv tot doctors read such things too. Coz my cousin, who's a doc too, tells me doctors are very lonely people. Coz they are so caught up with medical journals, the latest medical discovery and stuff they lose track with what is outside their medical world.
This was the book he lent me. It was a complimentary book from The Economist (coz he subscribes that). Besides The Economist, he reads Times, Financial Times, Fortune, Fishing mags, furnishing and touch..hahahaha..that's a huge variety for a ever-so-busy surgeon man.
It's a pretty small book but it's really interesting. I finished it within one day!
These are some of the things inside: Damn interesting!
About economic bubbles that burst.
And quotes from outstanding business leaders/investment gurus and stuff.
There were also other things like "Bad boys of the business world" and other stuff like the origins of the big brands of the world and meanings behind their names. Like Canon, it was named after their first camera named Kwannon, which also meant Kannon (which meant the Japanese Goddess of Mercy) and stuff like that. Super interesting.
Dr Peck says, reading is good, it gives u a lot of conversation topics when you go for parties and stuff. And apparently, I think he has a lot of investment banker friends. Coz he say most of his IB friends retired at 35 to enjoy life liao....hahahah..
When he loaned me the book, he said ok, by the time I see you in 2 days time, your PC up here *points at my head* would haf increased in its size :) hahahaha...I have a nice surgeon eh?
So from now on, Yu Hui is gonna read A LOT!!! I want to be like Dr Peck!
Anyway, I found a new snack to eat. Milo and wheat thins! First soak them in milo,
And then eat the soggy part! Nice!
And finally, yesterday I knew what was the exact surgical procedures done to me. I shall not write it here. Doesn;t go with the delicious wheat thins picture above. The next time I see you, and I feel good enough to talk, I will tell you. =)
I tried to luff today while watching 花样少年少女 with my sister on Ch U just now. And I found this intense tightness around my whole mouth, esp the surgical sites where my stitches were. I asked my friend who did the op 2 years ago. She say...dun pull too hard, the wound, despite it being closed now, will still tear open if u overdo it..ok..I WILL remember that..
Let me de-swell soon. According to Dr Peck, I still have quite a bit of de-swelling to do. Ah great.
