OMG it's so beautiful

My family's favourite moment on Sundays is probably watching 文茜世界周报 together. It's the moment where we catch up on the world's latest happenings and be in awe together. Hahahaha.

They brought up a recent production in 杭州(Hangzhou) which was meant to target their growing number of tourists. While Hangzhou has many sightseeing spots and attractions, night time activities were rather limited.

西湖, aka West Lake, have been famous for thousand of years. Full of legends and stories. And from there, they came up with the most beautiful production ever - 印象西湖(Impression West Lake).

They installed a stage underneath the water surface and lowered it to 80cm below water level, so boats could still travel with ease in the day. As night time arrives, when boats could no longer sail in the dark, the stage is raised to 3am below the water level. And the beautiful love story of The Legend of the White Snake (白蛇传) unfolds :)

I kinda grew up on Kitaro(喜多郎)'s music coz my dad loves his music. He says it's natural coz Kitaro stays in the mountains -_- Well I believe when my dad mentioned "natural", he really meant it. Hahahaha.

The stage production was directed by Zhang Yimou. Imagine production by Zhang Yimou, music by Kitaro, against the backfall of the famous West Lake. Gorgeous.

And the combination of Kitaro's music and Chinese culture, oh man, I'm an absolute sucker for such lethal combi -_-

This video is just a short clip of the production and how it looks like from the audience's point of view. It takes a while to load but I swear it's worth it:

Second video:

This video is basically the same as the first one but has a different set of lyrics (more chim) since the song is in 2 parts and prob too long to put into one video. If your chinese sucks, I suggest the 1st video. Hahahaha.

The music, the lyrics is just...i dunno..i can't describe it. Watch it for yourself :) Basically since the stage is below water level, there are little indicators at the side of the stage to tell the performers not to overstep and end up drowning in the lake.

My god, it's beautiful. I could feel hairstands when the music came up. I wanna go Hangzhou :(

Quote of the day: "When the night is at its darkest, it can only mean that daybreak is coming." - Unknown.
