Half past six

It's a popular Singaporean slang for "not satisfactory".

But I never knew about the story behind it. Well until this morning.

While waiting for Yicui to arrive at the airport (was supposed to send Sherina and her off), I went to one of the bookstores (or is that the only one?) to pick on something to read.

Yes, yours truly finds reading latest books for free in bookstores extremely thrilling. Especially when you know you might get caught anytime.

I dunno if you know about the series of books (ok maybe not series, about 3) written by a British humour columnist, Neil Humphreys, who worked in Singapore for 10 years before moving on to Australia.

The books he wrote:
1) Singapore - Notes from an even smaller island
2) Scribbles from the same island
3) Final notes from a Great Island

It's hilarious to see Singapore from Briton's point of view. Haha.

His favourite slang word?

Half past six.

"It actually has sexual meaning behind it. It was used to refer to a male *ahem* where being hung at half past six is depressing, at midnight means good, and requires medical attention at a quarter after three."

HAHA.

I will never look at "half past six" the same way again.
