One missed call
I had a missed call this evening 30 mins before my my tuition class and it was some weird number I couldn't identify with. Concerned that it might be a call from a company offering a potential interview, I called back.
Me: "Hi, I had a missed call from this number."We ended our conversation when it was time for my tuition and I guess his time to knock off as well. He wished me luck in scouting for the next better offer and we said goodbye. The last time I chat with Kian Ping was during Wei Han's farewell party (he was leaving to work in Dubai for 3 years). And we chatted 5 hours straight from banks to karma (Yea topics were that off. Haha). And before the 5 hr chat marathon was when he called me saying that he saw my favourite prof walking around in sports wear in school. Haha.
Unknown: "ME la"
*Pause for 2 seconds*
Me: "TAY KIAN PING! Oh my god I thought who sia."
KP: "Yea this is calling from ***"
(*** being the company I declined the offer)
Me: "HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAH. Shuddup la"
KP: "So how it is going?"
(Conversation continued for the remaining 20 min on current financial markets and his internship.)
KP: "You know big boys like Lehman are crazy. Can't just let the little ones F**K it all up man"
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
KP: "What are you laughing at?!"
Me: "It's been very long since I last heard you swear the F word. Very nostalgic."
KP: "And you still laugh the same way la."
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
When I ended the call, suddenly I miss the Beijing days a lot. Meng, KP, Shou Woon, Amanda and me. Scouting for special eateries and exotic sight seeing locations together in a foreign land. Esp so for the 3 boys and me since we shared an apartment all the way. From being all polite to treating each other like family members - i.e we all saw the sloppy side of each of us. Shou woon with his un-styled hair, Meng in ah peh wear, KP in boxer shorts (which eventually became just a towel wrapping habit after 1 mth) and me in specs.
I never saw Amanda un-styled though. Hahaha. Not even when I was sharing a room with her in Qingdao. Lol.
Oh I miss those days. Really.
