And she did

I remember telling my friends when I first started work - I have a really grouchy accountant in the office. She doesn't smile and she literally told me off right in my face when I asked her for the first time how do I do an expense report.

Every morning I made a point to say Good Morning to her and smile my best.

2 months later - I haven't heard a single Good Morning from her. And neither does she reiprocate a smile. At the very best, she looks up from her paper and acknowledge my presence.

My friends thought I was nuts to continue saying Good Morning to her this way. Anyway nutty as I was, I continued because I believe one day she will.

And yesterday morning she did. This morning as well. When she was giving out the pay cheques just now, she offered to deposit mine for me.

She told me the best way to fill out exchange rates in the expense report so I don't suffer any forex losses.

"Wait long enough and people will surprise and impress you. He said, when you are pissed off at somebody, and you're angry at them, you just haven't given them enough time. Just give them a little more time — and they'll almost always impress you. And that really stuck with me. I think he's absolutely right on that one." - Dr Randy Pausch in The Last Lecture.

Lesson learned and acknowledged. It's true.
