Sometimes ignorance is bliss

You know how they say sometimes ignorance is good?

I couldn't agree more.

Currently I'm working on this project which spans across multiple cities in this Middle Kingdom - oh don't get me started on the the other markets we are covering in another 5 different countries. As the little-est in the team, well I reckon I have to do most of the research work.

So I took it on - I didn't question how big it was. I didn't question how far I have to dig. Spoke only to my director to get directions on where to go and what to do. One of the senior associates walked over yesterday and looked upon me from behind the cubicle divider and said "You poor thing, you have so much to do." I shrugged, laughed and said "I don't know what you are talking about."

Yesterday while speaking on the phone with me, my director said "You have such a can-do attitude and an undying spirit in the face of this huge ass monster of a task." To be honest, I was taken aback.

Wasn't this what was expected of me?

When I looked at the spreadsheet I did, I actually managed 10 years worth of data across the multiple markets for economic indicators, travel traffic, weathers, CPIs, inflation and many more yadas. Not to mention my 5 page worth of market overview I wrote based on interviews done over the phone.

Maybe it helps that I didn't question how big it would be. I didn't second guess how tough it would be either. I just did what I had to do and truth to be told, I did not expect to get any praise out of it. I was corrected numerous times throughout the task on where I was doing wrong. Yeah to the point I wondered if my whole chunk of research was even relevant or helpful to the final product.

So I reckon the saying is indeed true.
"You will be amazed at what you can accomplish when you don't know what you cannot do."
Ok I think you guys don't want to read about my ego inflating entry anymore. HAHA.

Back to work baby!

Sometimes I can be so optimistic it's overbearing. Niahaha
