Class participation

Class Participation, A Documentary from SMU Campus TV on Vimeo.

It's a SMUBE (My extended family) and CTV (under SMUBE)'s production on SMU's class participation.

It's pretty well done and I suppose it serves as a platform for those who wanna know SMU more.

Patron's Day 2008 thank you dinner

Went for Patron's Day 2008's thank you dinner for all students involved :)

Food was good:
Terence came to join us shortly, saying we are the old people gang. Thanks Mr. Ex-president -_-.

On Terence's gain in mass
Me: "Terence, did you gain weight?"
*Terence squeezing his non-existent tummy fats*
Terence: "Not say so loud la..."
Keris: "You can't say he is fat lo. Must say he gain a lot of muscle."
Me: "Erm..ok you gained quite a bit of muscle."

Ok I can't rem when was the last time I saw him, but he certainly grew in size :S. Hahahah. Before long, SMUBE will have our own Hulk. Lol

We didn't hang around the food very long, because money had a bigger draw on us business students :)

Vegas Night is this coming Saturday, so the organizing comm decides to give us a little taste of our underground gambling den. That's our chips for the night :)

Andrew (OSL aka Office of Student Life) starts off the game of Big and Small. With Terence, Kang Xun and Reuben as the super enthu gamblers:
We started off as quiet risk-averse gamblers...:

And then Prof Low came over to the table. Terence started off with his "sooner or later will hit 3 number 6s" and his "no strategy" way of playing. Reuben in formal wear, and Terence in dark blue top and jeans:

So it turned out Terence had a strategy:
Me: "Terence no strategy one leh!"
*after winning*
Terence: "I got ok! This one cover that one!"
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

Right. Lol.

And then all the SMUBE people starts to crowd around Andrew's table because he keeps offering "double payoff! I am here to lose money!!!!!!":
Andrew's table of Big and Small is always littered with the green ($10) and red ($5) everytime payoffs are doubled:
We started to get more daring, with people starting to throw one whole bag of chips down. We started to get REALLY noisy too. HAHA:

Terence moved over to another table to be the banker and was dying to lose the 4 bags of chips to everyone:

And then he starts to regret...because Reuben and YiHui (Bernard) starts to win....And Terence realise...as the banker, he hasn't got much left...

Kang Xun and our earnings:
Pooling together our funds.....
We got this much in total for the auctioning:
If only they were real money...:(

After which we had our auctioning..some of the prizes were quite duh...but some were real cash! Like $150 real cash!

:D

Too bad I didn't get it. Hahaha

Of prawning and the AGM I missed

This is an overdue entry so...it's gonna be long. BUT there's a lot of pictures! So bear with me..

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

The radio DJs of SMUBE went out for prawning last Thursday and gawd I tell you, it's so damn fun! But please don't ask us how many prawns we caught.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAH.

I waited at Pasir Ris for Daryl (tog wih Gladys, Aiyu and Atiqah) to come pick me up. The prawning area was really near and we reached in about 5 min.

Daryl's car boot was full of titbits:
It was actually for us to snack on while prawning. HAHAHA. So thoughtful.

Some picts of the prawning area:

I thought we would be using chicken heart as bait but it turned out that they use....

Hum (issit spelt like this?)!
And hence, "hum" became THE word for the night.

"Hey I need to re-hum myself!"
"De-hum de-hum! Change a hum!"

And Atiqah became "Re-hum-na" because she was the maid helping most of us to erm..re-hum.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Re-Huming:
K.C = Kelvin Cen
D.T: Daryl Tay

And then we start prawning:
Kelvin washing his smell-like-hum-hands in the prawn pool:
Kelvin: "Do you think if I wash my hands in the pond, the prawns might suddenly jump up and bite my face?"
Me: "WAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAH."

Kenneth came and took over, saying prawns love him and he will definitely get one:
Kenneth got impatient and Kelvin took over again:
And then I took over:
And then it started raining....

Gladys took out her umbrella while she prawn:
Shah thought it was amusing and he decides to take a photo of her. I thought the whole thing looked amusing and decide to take photo of Shah taking photo of Gladys:
HAHAHA.

Night came...

We start to feel hopeless....
And we started to get bored too...

So we started naming our prawns. Daryl was bent on taking his prawn, Sam.
And the 3 of them trying to prawn Koh Jun Chuan (Terence's Chinese name):
Daryl and Kenneth still bent on catching Sam, who escaped many times:
The night ended with all of us hooked onto prawning and many empty growling stomachs.

I wanna go prawn again! :)

********************************************************************************************
I missed SMUBE (SMU Broadcast and Entertainment) AGM (Annual General Meeting) partly because I got the date mixed up and it was also on the day of my Mum's birthday.

Outgoing Committee:
And the incoming committee:
They had catered food from Hotel Rendezvous. Erm...nothing much was left by the time the photos were taken:
What follows will just be random photos I took off Facebook.

I love the expression Terence gave Dod. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA:
(from left): Felicia, Shelina, Deeraj, Terence, Dod.

The new Top 3 (President and 2 Vice-presidents):
(from left): Kelvin, Kenneth, Yi Hui aka Bernard (yes my name-twin. The reason why I'm called Sarah. HAHAHAHAHA.)

The drinkers:
J.G = Jason Gabriel
K.H = Kenneth Ho
Minh = Minh
D. = Dod
H.L = Hai Long

(from left): Huixin, Jiahui, Terence (ex-president)

Our hilarious new president, Kenneth and adorable ex AMT (Artiste Management) Director, Felicia.

Oh man, I totally missed all the fun :(

I was browsing through SMUBE's album..and I saw this photo again:
This was taken last sem when we represented SMUBE in the DragonBoat competition. Yea, I still have my braces on -_-. And I was still puffy from my surgery too. Hahahaha.

Gawd I will so miss such activities when I grad :(

ANYWAY! A side note, I got my tuitee some assessment books:
That's after searching through this rack of assessment books:
I told Lionel that those assessment books were his gift from me. He looked like he was going to cry. Hahahaha.

I borrowed some storybooks for him too:
It's been a while since I read books of this standard..:
I was glad he liked the books I borrowed! I read him "Little Red Hen" on Thursday and he is looking forward to "A Dog's Tale" next week.

:D

AND! He got full marks for his spelling!
So proud of him!

That's Lionel showing me some worksheets from school:
He was pouting when I said I was leaving already after giving him a 2.5 hr worth of tuition (it was supposed to be 1 hr! But he keep saying there are things he dunno so I had to spend more time). Thank god his mum says that she will take into account the hours I did and pay me accordingly. Ok I'm not that money-minded but 1.5 hrs more is really way too over le ma...:S

Ok that's it for updates :)

Quote to share: "Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood." - Wu Zun

Of weird nightmares and superb catching up

I have been having weird nightmares these days. 2 nights ago, the dream had me in a class. And then suddenly the whole place turns dark, with glowing red background light (like those rooms where you develop photos the old-fashion way). And everyone was panicking. The closet at the side suddenly had smoke coming out of it and 2 bloody-faced ghosts came out. There were 2 female ghosts. :S We ran for our lives and hid in corners while the ghosts tried to find us. The intensity of the dream woke me up and I was in cold sweat :S. Scary.

Last night, I was back in the same place again. But the 2 female ghosts were gone. The professor told us they have been exorcised :S I can't believe the dreams actually linked :S 2 days apart! But the place grew dark and this time it was a dark shadow hovering around. We ran and ran and ran, but it was like the same place wherever we turned :S

And once again, I woke up in cold sweat. And didn't wanna go back to bed :S

Eerie.

The kind of fear reminds me of the time when I had a dream that I was going to my Grandma's place and no matter how many flight of stairs I took, I just can't get to the 7th floor (my Grandma stays on the 7th floor). Like everytime I turn out of the staircase, it's a long stretch of dark corridors. No Grandma house. :S

I'm not discussing ghost stories at night anymore :S

Shudders. OK! NO MORE SCARY STORIES! Let's change a topic....

Had one of the most arduous journey to school today. Despite having an umbrella, I had half my jeans soaked due to the heavy rain -_-.

When I was about to leave City Hall MRT for School of Business, I realise a lot of tourists were taking pictures of the rain. So I joined in. -_-
I reached school half drenched, and my bag totally drenched -_-. SO much for an umbrella. The coldness and an empty stomach signaled the grand entrance of my magnificent headache.

And so the day proceeded with the most tortuous class of the week, made worse by the headache: Analysis of Derivatives. I'm totally lost. Black Scholes model? Neh. I didn't catch much of what the prof was explaining.

As what Jiahui says, the prof has the best pronunciation in the world. I couldn't agree more. :S but he's really nice and sincere, hard to actually you know get pissed with him. Hahahah.

Had food during break, and my headache went off by half. I suspect it's the brain's way of telling me it's time to eat :S But honestly, ask anyone, Yu Hui eats way too much :(

Had a short meeting after class, where we discussed what futures to buy and what trading positions to close. Each of us has US$100K to spend so Heyuan says just spend since our portfolio has earned enough and we are ready to be greedy. Hahahahaha.

Went to meet Jiahui, Huixin and Jaclyn in the SMUBE studio after my meeting and head off to Sushi Ichiban (or issit Ichiban Sushi? Argh whatever) for dinner.

On our way there, we passed by the Concourse and saw this:
For a moment I thought someone placed a charred corpse in the middle of the school until JiaHui pointed out it was for some school event.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA.

Keris joined us shortly and it was time of great catching up of Keris's exchange to Korea, JiaHui's exchange to France and my internship in Beijing. It was great catching up and JiaHui laughed till she teared when we were talking about the 9pm show (for the uninitiated, it's 一房半厅一水缸, or Just in Singapore.) We talked about all kinda shit, covering jobs (usual topics for the final year students), tv shows, traveling, people of different cultures, piracy, food, my headache blah blah blah.

We left around 10pm coz the shop was closing and bid each other goodbye :) Talked more with Huixin and Keris on the train back to the East. Talked about my new tuition kid, Lionel as well.

Speaking of which, I need to go get him assessment books tmr and maybe loan some children's books from the library too. He mentioned he needs to finish reading 35 books to get a badge from school but his mum doesn't know where to get the books. And to help them save money, I think borrowing from the lib is better :)

I'm gonna help Lionel get his "Read 35 books!" badge! :D

And before I forget, does anyone have this track?

It's the Lion King Movie Mix. I think it was called "The Lion King Medley" when we played it back in JC. I loved it coz Ben who's on the Timpani complained..hahaha. that he needs to change the musical keys on the Timpani 50 times! Hahahaha. I was playing Tom-toms, Conga and Bongo, so mine was the go with the flow and beat kind. Hahahaha. I remembered I always laughed at him from the drumset when he was jumping up and down each Timpani changing keys.

Gawd I'm evil.

But of course we didn't play everything I think. It was my favourite piece for that year's concert coz I love Lion King. Hahahah.

Anyone has it? Send moi!!!!

I can't find it anywhere :S

Of catching up and teenage pregnancy

Ok I wanted to include the Airshow 2008 photos in this entry but I figure the entry will be TOO long, so I shall give it a separate entry :)

Last Friday night, my BFF (Best Female Friend) Wendy, was flying back to Australia le. So the old Band clique met up on Friday morning for a nice Dim Sum breakfast:
What's better than good food and a bunch of old friends? :)

Shiyuan and Alan, happy with the food:

Wendy, the mother, scooping porridge for us:
Hahahahaahah.

We had very good chats about touring countries in future when we all have income, future career paths, band concerts and old time memories. Time flew and before we knew it, it was almost noon :S We head off to the library where JiaHui can hand over the NTU Band Concert posters to the Bedok Lib, and then head off home.

Anyway, JiaHui picked up a copy of the Arts Festival performance brochure, and we kinda convinced each other to go for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy concert by Singapore Festive Orchestra (did I even get the name right? Hahahaha) in June. Hahahaha. And it's good to get the tickets fast, for me that is, so as to utilize the student discount. Hahahahahah.

I went home, catch up on some homework and then set off to school to print my tickets for Singapore Airshow 2008 -_-. Yes my bleedy printer died on me once more. Hahahaha.

I didn't send Wendy off because I was stuck in school doing work. But I did call her twice, once before the movie, and another time nearer to her departure time (at 11 plus pm). Telling her I am going to miss her so much and I will keep my milk tea chatting sessions empty until she return in July :) No one can chat everything under the sun over milk tea with me like she does.

Movie with SMUBE was at 6.40pm so I had plenty of time to slack around in school :) Did some job hunting, and then proceeded to do some catching up on work when it all got too tiring :S

Watched "Juno" with about 20 people and it was a great feeling! The last time I joined the MMM (Massive Movie Mania) was when we were watching "300", which was about one year ago. Hahahahaa. :( I should be more active. Hahahahaah.

The show is really nice! In a very simple and real way that is. If you guys dunno the story, it's about Juno, a 16 year old girl who got pregnant after sleeping with her admirer, Paulie. And how she searched for adoptive parents for her baby and discovering in the end how she really loved Paulie despite always being mean to the poor geeky boy. Hahahahaa.

The dialogue rocks man I tell you. The whole cinema was laughing and laughing and "awwwww"-ing away throughout the whole show. It's really a great show, I recommend everyone, anyone to watch it.

Juno's poster:

Kelvin Cen trying to be Juno:
I didn't get to include Kenneth's part of imitating Paulie. Hahahahahah. It was real funny. Hahahahaa.

We had a group shot to commemorate MMM 6 (the 6th MMM that is), and it's with Daryl. When he uploads it (somehow and somewhere..hahah), I will put it up :)

Love watching movies!

Oh just a note, USD has fallen to 1.406SGD to 1 USD. WAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. It's such a time to go online and do shopping. Hahahaha.

Patron's Day 2008 :)

I can't believe it. It's my last Patron's Day :( *wails*

Arrived in school at around noon and reported straight to the SMUBE studio.

Reuben and Terence: "Saaaaaarrraaaahhhhhh~~~~~~"

(On why I am being named Sarah, refer to Story Behind 'Sarah'. Hahahaha.

Me: "Don't call me that laaaaaaa~~~~~"
Terence: "You are Sarah whattt~~~~"
Me: "Shit you la."

*Terence kneeling down in front of me*
Terence: "Eh your pants damn funky."
Me: "Funky meh?"
Terence: "Let me tie these 2 together."
Me: "No!" *Attempts to fight Terence and failed*
Terence: "Nice!"
That's Terence's failed attempt to include his victory sign. Hahahaha.

Me: "How the hell am I supposed to walk in this?!"
Terence: "Like that you can walk very daintily. Hahahaha." *starts to demo*
Me: "THANKS ah."

Anyway, I managed to untie it (Stupid Terence tie a dead knot) with Terence laughing like crazy in the background. -_-.

I went up to Campus Green, to report to Stage 1, where I would be doing my backstage event.

We were settling down after the sound system was done and we realised! Hey all these at Stage 1 were yr 4 seniors!
(From left to right): Me, Keris, Huixin, Jacjac, Jeremy Soh, Paik.

That's the Senior Citizens Corner for you. Hahaha.

I left halfway for my dental appointment over at NDC (National Dental Ctr) and met Jeff Wang there. He has the same surgeon as me! Hahahaha. And he look really good in real life. His skin is like WAH! But he was in cap and shades. I have a photo of him, but I shall not publish it. Hahaha.

I can't believe my surgeon is still saying :"Yea you are still a little puffy at the nose and cheeks area."

-_- I WANNA DEPUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF~~~~!!!!!!! Rarrrhhhh.

On my way back on the bus, I realised the CNY decorations were really nice!
Just as I was wondering where the hell this place is...I saw this!
So this is Chinatown -_-

Anyone wanna go Chinatown to look see? My parents are so not going la, say it's like a warzone. Hahahaha. At least Wendy is interested in River Ang Bao. Hahaha. If anyone wanna go Chinatown, gif me call :)

By the time I went back to school, the area was pretty crowded already. Tug-of-war was over and what was left was the Kia Challenge (Involves squeezing the max number of people in Kia Picanto).

If you guys ever get to google this car, it's freaking small.

The team who won, managed to squeeze 29 girls into the car :S TWENTY NINE! My goodness.

After a day of hard work, it was time for food!!!!!

Botak Jones!!!!! Here I come!

I didn't bring my food tag :S But Terence was very nice. He offered me his food tag but I only took away "Main course". At least he will have his booze and ice cream ma.
The precious "Main Course" tag. Hahahaha.

My BJ!

It wasn't enough for me coz I was just too hungry so I went off to 7-11 to get Hotties to eat. Hahaha.

Pig.

-_-

Patron's Day 2008 had been great :) Although LN and Jiahui weren't around to complete the whole backstage "OBS" - Old Bird Services team, I was still contented with my final PD :)

Cheers SMUBE! I'm gonna miss you guys :(

I HEART SMUBE LA!
