Good Saturday

Had an amazing Saturday hanging out with the JC friends and celebrating Shiyuan's birthday over at Zeffir with some seriously good and authentic Russian/Uzbekistan food. Who would have expected such good food in this little hole in the wall in Little India? I sure didn't. Haha. The Borsch soup was rich and is one of the must-trys. I like how cozy and homely the setting is, perfect for small gatherings (the whole place takes about less than 30 people I think). Do try the Kompot (home-made drink made from apple, plums and grapes) and Shashliks too!

I would recommend going with a group of friends so you can order a variety of food to share! :)

Headed off to Tom's Palette for some home-made ice cream thereafter and we managed to embarrass Shiyuan (and ourselves of course) by singing him a birthday song. If you haven't tried their ice cream, you should. It's creamy and extremely flavorful. Not forgetting they have a variety of flavors that you can't find in most cookie-cutter ice cream outlets, like salted egg yolk and and chocolate stout. There's also a workshop you can sign up to make your own ice cream! Students from all local universities get 10% off ;)

This is already the 11th year we are celebrating each other's birthdays. I feel old just thinking about it. Hahaha. It's been an incredible journey for all of us, slogging through A levels, University, overseas stints, work life, love and marriages together. We have been with each other through all the major milestones in each other's lives. It's not an easy feat and I'm glad we are still going strong :)

Cedric will be heading off to Ohio really soon (for his PhD) after his wedding in 2 weeks time. Christmas visiting plans are in the works already! Hahaha. Wendy's plans to study/further her career in Australia is also starting to take shape as well (after her house arrive in September). Jiahui got rid of his crazy boss and is moving on to greener pastures in a month's time. Jonathan's prepping for his wedding too. My new manager is coming in next week and hopefully things will progress for the better in office as well ;) I love how well everything is going for all of us :)))

I ended the night at The Coastal Settlement (gotta go back and try their brunch one of these days). Kenneth came back from Hong Kong for the weekend and we had a hell of a time discussing about his new cafe idea and Kelvin's upcoming stag night in Bangkok (again!). Miss these folks so much lahhh.

Life has been good so far. A lot to give thanks for :) Have a great Sunday everyone :)

Saturday with the Ho-s

Had an exceptionally fun Saturday - the Ho-s are finally back from their honeymoon in Italy. Instead of heading out for meals like what good old 23 - 27 year olds should be doing, we decided to hole ourselves up in their cosy unit at The Belvedere and... cook our own dinner.

Pretty much degenerating into old farts me thinks.

Anyways, since Kelvin did his trademark la-la, I guess I can accept that degeneration. Hurhur. He should really have his own restaurant, which we concluded should be called Woo-La-La. Haha!

Quek as usual, is the master of grills for the night. And seriously, nothing beats grilling awesome chicken thighs to this view. Since it's only weeks prior to Singapore's National Day Parade, we were lucky enough to catch fireworks for the rehearsals as well.

Nope, didn't capture those fireworks. Haha. And phones should really come with better cameras..

Quek's masterpiece(s) comprising of pesto and teriyaki grilled chicken.
Kenneth simmered the remains of their Peking duck lunch into a really yummilicious (no kidding) pot of duck porridge. Only shortfall was, we should have lesser water. Haha.

Adding on the stewed vegetable dish Charlotte brought from home, tada! It was a reallllyyyyy good dinner! We had plenty of white and red wine as well (since Kenneth still has about 42 bottles left from his wedding banquet..). We wiped out about 5 bottles (I think). Didn't remember drinking that much though.. Not that I can comment since I was more obsessed with the flask of Ribena in the fridge.
Osbourne (one of Kenneth's dogs)was let out most of the evening - haven't seen him in a long time! He was diagnosed with autism earlier this year and the poor boy was always so stressed when there were people around. He was hardly let out (lest he bite - way too many victims already) and we were quite afraid to be near his cage too. According to Kenneth, he's much better now so he's allowed out on one condition: we weren't allowed to touch him unless he wags his tail and approaches us first.

Cute little old fart (he's around 42 in human years):

Crispy (the other dog), is the bouncy 1-year old schnauzer - extremely friendly with everyone and too damn adorable haha.
We ended the night with wayy too much ice cream and chips (oh and MIB 3). Highlight of the night was the dessert wine from Italy the Ho-s got from their honeymoon. Apparently they were served that in every hotel they went so they decided to bring it back. We had the Vino Santo (also called Holy Wine) - it's usually paired with biscotti cookies (dunk them in the wine like what you do with Oreos). It was a bit too strong for my liking to be consumed alone so the bisotti cookies really helped.

We had so much cleaning to do (Cherie even mopped the entire house haha)! But it was worth it la. With the success of this cook-out, I'm really looking forward to the one next week! Hurhur.

Diablo III bonding

Nothing bonds boys better than Diablo III.

The main purpose we were over at K-Ho's place? To help out with the wedding stuff (this is an old photo. Duh. Hahaha).

Boys.

Breakfast for champions

Last Saturday was an overwhelming event for those involved in K-Ho and C-Tay's wedding - I'm sure it's most tiring for the couple of the night. Congrats to the Ho-s!

Most of those involved in the event ended up sleeping over at the Shangs that night. I was so bushed, I didn't even have time to take proper photos of the room. To make up for the lack of sleep and food, we sure had some meaningful breakfast the very next day.

I'm pretty sure everyone who walked past our table took a second glance. Look, that's 10 glasses of juice, 4 cups of Teh Tarik and 4 glasses of champagne...for FOUR people. Don't even start counting the rest. Hurhur.

Ok to be fair, we did finish most of it. Hurhur.

Sunday afternoon

Popped over to K Ho's house on Sunday to help out with his wedding preparation. It was quite fun I must say. Hahaha! Maybe because I'm not the one fretting over the schedule and stuff. I only needed to write invitation cards. Hurhur.

Crispy the schnauzer was the perfect afternoon companion :)

S*MUBE Saturday

My weekend was the bombs. No it wasn't running across pubs and whatsnot. It was a lot of fun, laughters, friends, the sun, the sea, the sand and...

a whole lot of sunburn.

Saturday was celebrating Rachel's birthday so the whole bunch of us SMUBE-ers went off to Garuda at O*rchard C*entral for dinner.

Had too much of a laugh before we all head off to Ben & Jerry's for awesome ice cream before heading back to our familiar studio.

I miss this place :( It has so much of my college memories! We ended up playing Monopoly Deal until like 2:30am in the morning.

I concussed straight agfter getting home. Hahah. I really miss hanging out at the studio :(

Of crazy laughers and bitchy catchup

Nothing beats hanging out with these bunch of crazy people over Kelvin's place.

From left: Richard, me, YiHui (my twin), Kelvin, Rachel, Kangxun, Charlotte

We need to do Despicable Me and tennis soon ;)

Beat it - Jonny style

Daryl's birthday was a smash - meeting up with the old birds of SMUBE is always always fun ;)

I gotta say...Jonny rocks man!!!!!

Michael Jackson's Beat it - Jonny style

Where else can you find a version of Beat it so incredibly entertaining? Jonny, you rock!

Congrats!!!!!

I totally missed Starry Starry Night =(

And so I missed LN's proposal to JacJac!!!!!!!!!! =(((((((

I think if I were there, I would have really cried my heart out man. My friendship with both of them were forged through countless hours spent at Backstage rehearsals and it's so touching to see this couple move on to the next stage of their lives =)

CONGRATULATIONS LN AND JACJAC!!!!!!!!!! (photos from Facebook):

And Jonny, your poster was very cute. Hahaha.

SMU Grad Nite 2008 - Couleurs

Time to update about Grad Nite!!

I have gotta be the most last min person on earth when it comes to the Grad Nite this year. I got my dress the day before, my shoes like 3 hours before the event, and my bag about 2 hours before it.

That's a punishment for not having enough girly stuff at home. Haha.

No black and white. So no surprise, I chose pink:
Photobucket
Just ignore the mess I made in my room all because of Couleurs.

And can I totally complain about dinner clutch, they are so small u cant stuff much:
Photobucket

And I underestimated how light the material was for the dress. Once the wind blow, I can do a Marilyn Monro. Like seriously.

Yicui came over to drive us to Fullerton Hotel. The sceneries along the way were beautiful.....:

We ran into a crazy traffic jam:

We managed to reach Fullerton like...1 hour later than the meeting time because we got lsot trying to find the way into Fullerton. I swear no one should ever rely on me..to get directions because I am of no help. I usually keep quiet when you ask me directions. Haha.

In the lift:

The whole event started later because majority of the people were late and everyone was just busy catching up and snapping photos away. The ballroom:

Our fist dish, some prawn salad thing. Small in portion but really nice:

We had a letters game. Each table has an envelope with 10 random alphabets inside. Supposed to trade with other tables the alphabets you want to make a 10-letter word. The fastest table wins 2 bottles of wine:
Photobucket

Sends everyone into a frenzy of trading alphabets. Which reminds me of a trading floor - where people shout for deals and prices they want. But we shout for the alphabets we want:
Photobucket
Haha.

After that we had the drinking game. Where the person who drinks the last drop wins. So you either drink everything in the first gulp or you have other better strategies. Zhihon was really good. He drank the whole jug:
Photobucket
And so he won 2 bottles of wine for his table too.

After this will be a series of photos...I don't think I can put all or I might go crazy..haha. Go Facebook to see more =)

What did all the photos tell you about me? I'm a boring person with 1 pose. HAHA.

It was in all a tiring but extremely fun night =)))))

Will update on Commencement 2008 soon!!!!!!!!!

Ok now I want to sleep. Lol

When old birds gather

Last Sat, Melwyn organized a KTV session for the old birds of SMUBE aka all the year 4s who were done with their exams. Of coz we have along with us a couple of young birds as well :)))) It was hell of a glass breaking (on my part that is) and old-songs galore session man!

Virgin experience of KTV in Singapore! The first time I ever KTV in my entire life was in Beijing, and on this day, with the rest of the old birds of SMUBE, first time in Singapore.

I started my day with tuition with Lionel..and one of his assignments was:
Photobucket

Google?! For Primary 1? Wow.

I proceeded to school for a much-needed gym session, and ran into Choon Hong. We chatted for a good 30 min before I realise I hadn't gym-ed yet and he was hungry. So we proceeded to Kopitiam (school canteen), and realised...
PhotobucketThey already started to tear down the things already :S No more Kopitiam :((( Heard Koufu is coming in. Lol.

I went for my gym session after Choon had his food. Did about 2.5km and I was half gone :S On my way out of gym, caught Terence sitting at the corner, making a hat.
PhotobucketHe made a really nice Mexican hat using vanguard paper! Haha, I just gotta say he's really good with all these paper cutting and folding things.

I went on my way home, and took pictures of the school as I walked towards business block:

9. Most importantly, SMU:

Ahhh...so much memories.

Went home to change, and met Keris for dinner at Somerset. It's been such a long time since I hit the city! And to think SMU's campus is..well..in the city. Haha.

We met up with Kristen and Heyuan at the train station before moving over to Party World at International building :))))

Nice cabin:

The rest came subsequently:

And the bill came up to:

$274 :S

In order to protect the privacy of everyone in the cabin that day, I won't be posting videos. Lol.

But we had so much fun singing old songs like Backstreet Boys' "Get Down", Aqua's "Barbie Girl", Spice Girls' hits and many growing up songs.

It was fantastic :))))))

Must go K again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
