Surprise sprint to a splint-free day

Finally on the 15th day since operation, I stepped out of the house for non-hospital visits.

And my friends have problems recognizing me. Great. Just great.

In the morning I paid a visit to the OS. He gave the bones a little nudge in every corner (which left me staring blankly at him. Coz I thought he lost his mind or something for pushing my broken jaw so hard.)

OS: "Ok, the bones feel pretty steady. We take out the splint today and see how ok?"

I mumbled something which I think if I were him, I wouldn't understand. I thought splint was supposed to stay on for at least 6 weeks! He took out a "wire-cutting" set and started to clip away. And soon, the splint came loose and I could almost hear my top jaw rejoice man. Freedom!

OS: "Bite together. Bite hard. Ok, good. I want you to try to eat something soft today and we will see u again on Monday. If you still feel unstable without the splint, we will put it back on Monday."

Me: "I can eat?!"

OS: "SOFT food. Very soft food. Preferably something so soft it doesn't require much effort to chew" And then he gave me a look as if saying "U try go grind some peanuts with those jaws and I will have your neck". Ok. Good. At least I can have steamed tofu as a new dish. My body is starting to reject Campbell soups. TOTALLY.

After the visit to the OS, I went down to SPH for the Lian He Zao Bao's stationed-in-china reporters private sharing forum. It was for the module Doing Business in China la.

Surprise surprise, I saw my uncle (former prof at NTU) there and my cousin-in-law as well. He used to part of the mgmt of SPH. And great, they almost didn't recognize me until I grabbed my uncle's arm and called out to him. It took him about 4 seconds to react. -____-. My cousin-in-law didn't recognize me AT ALL. My uncle had to say my name and then he went :"Oh my! You looked quite a bit different." Oh man.

My friends had a hard time recognizing me too. Great. And the TA who was dere to take attendance, "Yu Hui? Is that you? Dun look like..." Oh my gawd.

The talk was fairly interesting. But I left after the 1st session (total of 3 sessions) coz I had FIIM meeting in school after that. And just as great, my FIIM project mates dun really recognize me as well. Argh.

Yunjia:"Man, I feel like I have a new friend." Right.

And besides the new hoo-haa over the fact they can't recognize me, the other thing worth mentioning was my obvious shrink in size. Hahaha...All my shirts are pretty much slightly baggy on me now and my jeans are all loose. I need to start feeding myself better...or else no strength to embrace SMU when this week is over.

I used to wear this black belt on the 2nd last hole. Now I am on the last hole and I can still put an entire hand in. Nice.

This pair of jeans used to be tight!

I figure when the puffiness at the nose and cheeks area goes off, people might start recognizing me again. And I can also start eating again. =
