More Angels & Demons

I can't get enough of the Illuminati, Robert Langdon and the 4 elements of science.

After I finished Dan Brown's Angels & Demons - I went on to Google about the Masons, The Illuminati, Galileo and even Bernini.

I can only say Dan Brown is really knowledgeable in all these historical stuff to write such a great book. I had a really hard time digesting information =S

If you want a taste of the movie (which totally makes you crave for moreeeee) click here

Angels & Demons international trailer:

The Illuminati Featurette:

Faith V.S Science:

For the first time this year, I just want time to jet by so I can watch the movie!!!!!!!!!

I am so getting the soundtrack as well.

I can't wait!

This is a wayyyyyyyy better trailer for Angels & Demons.

I can't wait!!! Ewan McGregor is going to be the camerlengo. Who is starring as Maximilian Kohler?! Who is going to be the dead Leonardo Vetra?! Who is going to be Hassasin?! The 4 Cardinals....the branding...Olivetti...

Oh my I really can't wait!!!!!!! I'm going to watch it like 3 times.

Angels & Demons

After reading Da Vinci Code last year, I fell in love with Dan Brown. Wendy said Angels & Demons is even better, I didn't believe her.

I just finished the book - I do now. It's brilliant.

I can't wait for the movie. And I feel like going to the Path of Illumination. Brilliant. Real brilliant.

I want to re-read my Angels & Demons and Da Vinci Code again!!!

Marley Lines

I was just re-watching some bits and pieces of Marley & Me and this part touched me immensely once again.

A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn’t care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his - Marley & me
 How sweet is that? =)

Marley & me

Besides knowing it was an international best-seller, I knew nothing about Marley & Me. We went to watch it because well, there was no more tickets for "He's Just Not That Into You".

Marley & Me was surprisingly good. Not to mention Owen Wilson did a really great job as John Grogan. As his life unfold with wife, Jennifer Grogan, the pains of compromising dreams with the reality of life, relocating for a better-paid job, the pains of taking up parental duties of 3 children - it was very touching to see the Grogan family tolerated, grew on and eventually love the world's worst dog - Marley.

The last part made me cry - in fact the whole cinema did. There were sniffles going around the cinema and somehow it touched me immensely that people are really moved by the love of this dog for his family and vice versa. Don't get me wrong, it's not a film made to just made you cry - in fact the cinema was either laughing or crying. The chemistry of the cast was truly awesome.

I love the closing part by Owen Wilson:

"Just give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? Not too many, no doubt. How many people can make you feel that special? Again, probably not too many."

Really sweet.

I give it ♥♥♥♥.5/5. =)

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Had a chance to catch this today:

Fantastic show. I give it 4.5/5 stars. The missing 0.5 stars was because I had to look at Brad Pitt in aged form for about half the time in the show. Hahaha.

However, when this face appeared on the screen, everything else don't really matter. Hahaha.

Shallow issues aside, I find this show extremely thought provoking - as mentioned by my favorite professor (everyone knows him anyway..haha). No matter how you live your life, backwards or forward, the it will somehow still be the same. It has made an impact on me and I wish to reflect upon it.

Those who haven't caught it yet - please do so!

Madagascar 2

It's coming on November 13!!!!!!!!!!!

I can almost hear the "I like to move it move it, you like to move it move it..." song singing in my head. Haha

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)))

Especially after that traumatising "The Coffin" last night.

*shudders*

The real Halloween

First up, Happy Halloween everyone!

Ever had a Halloween in the real deal? I had it today.

Work was good except during the Team Call with the regional Directors, there were a few questions directed straight to me and I was caught a little off guard. But things were resolved after that. Still, got a little scare from that. Haha.

I met Jiahui for dinner because she was having a real deal of Halloween over at C*itibank too. Lol. We decided on dinner at this ramen restaurant in Marina Square. A little baby cockroach decide to drop by and scared us off our seats. We changed seats twice because the little bugger was apparently a little too persistent. I guess both of us looked so terrified the guy next to our table came over and said :" Don't worry! I will settle it for both of you!" Lol. Thanks stranger! =)

Decided we still had time to catch a movie before we end our Halloweenie night. No prize for guessing what film was chosen - The Coffin. Some thai horror flick starring Karen Mok and Ananda Everingham.

Honestly, I kinda regret watching that show. Both of us freaked out so much we were hiding behind our hands most of the time. The horror points were too intense! I barely had time to recover and another blow came up. Geez. It came to a point I was breathing really hard because I couldn't stand the suspense of waiting for another ghost/eerie being to pop up from the most unexpected place. There was a point in time I really felt like crying because I was so freaked out by it. I'm never watching Thai horror again I swear.

But nonetheless darling, it was still a good night spent!!! =) Must agree on our Red Cliff Part 2 movie date soon!!!! =)

Mamma Mia!

I remembered telling my friends don't watch it because thought of the actors singing ABBA's classics just turns me off.

However, I gave in to watching it last night because Wendy wanted to. And you know me being me, I almost never turn Wendy down. (minus the time she wanted me to walk into Coach shop in shorts and slippers and I stared at her in disbelief before running off. haha)

I completely did not regret watching it.

Trailer:

It's such a happy show! I practically laughed all the way! We watched with a great crowd too. The row behind and before us were all OLs (Office Ladies) who could relate to ABBA's classics. And when the songs came up, the whole cinema was singing along.

One of the female leads, Meryl Streep had 2 really good BFFs. And when the 3 old ladies met up and did a very teeny pop kinda friendship cheer, I leaned over to Wendy and said: "That's what we will be like when we hit 50 years old." HAHAHAHA

Pierce Brosnan's singing sucks. But his sexy face and body compensates in some way so I am perfectly fine with that. Hahahaha.

How can anyone at his age be so darn sexy?!!?!?!?!?!?!?

Anyway....I wanna watch it again!!!!!! It's such a happy show! =))

People, go watch it. Nevermind that ABBA's version is still so much better. Hahaha

Wall-E

I recalled laughing my head off when I was saw this trailer while sitting outside the ticket booth of Cineleisure waiting for JiaHui (SMUBE).

I have one question..why does his best friend have to be a cockroach?! Why?!

Other then that, the trailers made me feel like owning a Wall-E too. Lol

Red Cliff

I solemnly swear this movie is good. The only comment Jiahui and I had after the movie was...

"WHY WERE THE REVIEWS BAD FOR THIS MOVIE?!?!?!"

Ah but the only bad thing was I wished I had Wiki-ed more about Romance of the 3 Kingdoms before I watched it. The only information were the things I remembered from my Beijing internship where I spent many afternoons in the trading room of my internship company watching some of the staff playing "Battle of the Red Cliff" during lunch hour. Haha.

The conversations in the movie were a little cheem but I loveeeeeeeeeeee it man. So tasteful! And it's entertaining as well. I dunno about you but it's the first time I heard so much laughters in a war/history film. Haha

I totally heart Takeshi Kaneshiro (as ZhuGe Liang)! ZOMG so shuai. Not to forget Guan Yu and Zhao ZiLong as well.

I can't wait for the second one!!!!!! Burn the ships!!! Burn!!!!

Ok I think I'm a little too high.

Harold & Kumar

My current craze is Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.

It's probably the only movie with the highest frequency of F**K word being said, and yet I don't feel disturbed watching it. Haha

It's crazily hilarious. Everyone should catch it! Even the last part of the movie when all the credits were over, the sketches of 2 Asians (1 Korean and 1 Indian) released by the police were so freaking funny.

I can't wait to catch Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

I might die laughing in the cinema.

For the uninitiated:

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle trailer (2004):

You can catch the whole movie of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle on Youtube. Loads pretty fast.

Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay trailer (2008):

I can't stop laughing.

Lol.

Movies backlog to clear

I've been wanting to watch a movie but doesn't seem to be able to fork out enough time this sem to watch.

Movies backlog includes:

1) Spiderwick Chronicles (OMG this was released sooo long ago! I need to watch it!)
2) Shutter (watching with Simin later after my tuition)
3) Horton (heard it's funny but maybe not a must-watch)
4) Bucket List (I love Jack Nicholson's shows. He's just so funny. Naturally. Lol)

I think that's it for now. I should be concentrating on exams too.

9 more days!

OMG!

:S

Death Note anime

I know it's kinda late to start watching Death Note Anime now. But hey it's never too late for anything right :)

Was watching the 1st episode on SCV today and was totally totally blown away by the anime version of high school genius (but also serial killer) Yagami Raito aka Light (夜神 月) and high school genius detective "L". The "unknown" killer (which is actually Light) later takes on a name "Kira" as the public perceives him to a killer. (kira sounds like killer)

I can assure you it's an anime very very different from the regulars. It's deep and intellectually challenging.

Got too blown away, decide to go to www.veoh.com to watch more :)

Include 2 episodes for some tasting:

Death Note Anime Episode 1:

Online Videos by Veoh.com

Death Note Anime Episode 2:

Online Videos by Veoh.com

It's about 20 min each episode so can stream it while studying and watch it during your breaks :)

Who has the soundtracks for the anime?! I wantttttt!!!!!!!!! :)

For those who dunno what Death Note is about, I wrote an entry for Death Note 1 movie version before.

Now I understand why there was so much uproar over the actor starring as Yagami Raito in the movie version.

While the anime version of Yagami Raito (Light) is slick, handsome and extremely intelligent-looking:
The movie version of Yagami Raito (light) was more...:
erm..more like less slick-looking but he had a more sinister air. Which fits what Yagami Raito was supposed to look like as the show progresses. The black creature behind is the Death Reaper, Ryuk.

But for the character "L"...practically not much difference! Kudos to the actor man! And of course the make-up artiste! Lol

"L" in the anime, looks like this:
Yea, he likes to sit this way. He once says if he sits normally, his ability to think drop by half. Hahaha. And he loves to eat sweet things, is very pale (because he's always indoors) and has very dark rings due to lack of sleep.

The "L" in the movie:
So alike! Hahaha

There's slight difference between the Anime version and the Movie version.

In the Anime version:
1) Yagami Raito (Light) is a high schooler.
2) Raito picked up the Death Note in school.
3) He kill people because he was bored.

In the Movie version:
1) Yagami Raito (Light) is a Law undergrad.
2) He picked up the Death Note in the dark alley on a rainy day.
3) He kill people because he was disgusted with the law system that could not punish the criminals duly.

Everyone should give the anime or the movie a watch! There's 2 parts to the movie :) And both are equally good :)

As what the movie poster for the 1st part suggest:
It's the Battle of the Wits. :)

And it gets more complicating, as can be seen from the poster of Death Note 2: The Last Name:
There's another girl with a 2nd Death Note and the appearance of a second Shinigami (death reaper) in white.

Death Note 1 Trailer:

Death Note 2: The Last Name Trailer:

Just realise Channel U will be playing in on TV this coming Sunday and next Sunday for Part 1 and Part 2 of the movie! :)

It's so exciting!!!!

Can't wait to finish the anime as well :)

Warning! It's highly addictive :)

A very GOOD FRIDAY

This is a late entry..as always :S

Went out cycling with Alan and Shiyuan on Friday, to celebrate a much needed break from school. Yea, celebrate is the word although Alan say I seem to be free this semester. HAHA. I'm jaded about school that's why :S

Lol.

Took a bus down to East Coast Park:
It was a lot of cool fun chatting on the bus because we were planning to go to the zoo one of these days. Talked about should we rollerblade or should we cycle. It was before long we reached East Coast Park.

Alighted at this bicycle rental store:
There were a lot of bikes, and it kinda remind me of Beijing parking lots for the bikes..hahaha:
The shop owner chose a silver mountain bike with pink words for me. Must be the pink shirt I was wearing for such a choice -_-.

Alan and Shiyuan got their bikes too and we joined in the queue:

I volunteered to be the one to register for everyone. So I waited in the queue with my IC.

Guy at counter: "Whose IC is this?!"
Me: "Mine."
Guy at counter take a closer look: "Are you sure?"
Me sigh loudly: "YES, it's MINE."
Guy at counter: "You look MUCH better in real life."
Me: "I thank you for that comment."

And thank you for writing my name wrongly..hahaha:
Wong Fu Hui.

Right.

We set off for the good sun, great sea breeze and fantastic cycling!!!!!:

Came across some people who were doing cable skii-ing.

I stopped a few times to take photos and it didn't help that the boys had bigger bikes (unfair!) and rode faster than me. Thank goodness Alan stopped a few times every now and then to make sure at least I was in sight.

Or else I probably would have missed Bedok Jetty altogether. HAHA.

Arrived at Bedok Jetty (see the plane?):
And we were shocked that Singapore waters can look this nice:
We don't feel like we are in Singapore!:

Just to show you how strong the wind was that day, and how nice the sea colour looked!:

One in red cap : Alan
One in white shirt: Shiyuan

Then we heard planes flew by...it was a day with heavy air traffic man..:

And then more SQ planes flew by...and ended with the sound of thunder...:

We rode off quickly, and decide to drop by East Coast Lagoon for food since we were hungry and it's probably gonna rain anytime:
I dunno what the boys were doing...HAHAHA:
And true to the thunder, it rained a little. We ate and then chat for about 30 min before moving off.

Scenery on the way back was pretty nice too:

Because I keep stopping for photos, eventually I lost sight of Alan and Shiyuan.

And they, thinking that since it's a straight one-way route back to the bike rental store, they reckon I won't get lost.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Anything can happen to Wong Yu Hui.

I cycled and cycled. And thought to myself, where the hell is the bicycle rental store...?

And then the scenery became...unfamiliar..and the further I cycled, the lesser people there were :S And then I saw it.

I saw the other jetty! I thought to myself, I'm so screwed. So I called Alan and I couldn't get through the line. Bad reception. I called Shiyuan and his first sentence was...

Shiyuan: "Where are you?!"
Me: "I think I'm lost!"
Shiyuan: "Cycle back! You cycled past us!"
Me: "OMG!"

And then I quickly cycled back. Saw Alan and Shiyuan on the way back and had a good laugh on how I lost my way when the store was so frigging big.

So what happened was...

Alan: "We saw you cycled past us!"
Shiyuan: "And we thought to ourselves, you will cycle back somehow when you realised you passed the shop."
Alan: "Then you didn't turn back...."
Shiyuan: "And we were like 'SHIT.....'"
Alan: "We thought you fell down or something.."
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

HAHAHAHA.

Oh man, so embarrassing.

After we returned the bike, we took a bus down to Parkway to burn off sometime before dinner with Jiahui (who was having tuition somewhere nearby).

We saw this:
Pet balloons that can stand!

Alan: "Now that's a really quiet zoo."
Me: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH."

We went to the Korean Supermart and the Japanese one as well before heading into Borders.

Shiyuan: "Hey! How to be a Domestic Goddess!":
Shiyuan: "It's a book for you man."
Me: "-_-"
Me: "Why is it Goddess? There's sexual discrimination there."
Shiyuan: "Coz girls nowadays can't be bothered with housework and cooking."
Me: "Guys can do it then."
Alan: "Maybe coz girls think guys nowadays are not worth doing it for them..."
Me: "Sounds like a good answer..hahahahahaha."

Alan: "Shiyuan! This is your book man!":
*I flipped through the book*
Me: "Wah it makes me wanna bake some cookies too. Hahahahaha."
Shiyuan: "Wow, a lot of recipes there..."
Me: "Yea, we buy it for you for bday, then you make for us k..."
Shiyuan :"-_-"

Then Alan bide us goodbye coz he was joining his parents for dinner. So Shiyuan and I continued to explore Borders and found a really expensive but interesting Sherlock Holmes book:

The book has really old and yellowed paper! And all the clues mentioned in the book, were included as well. Feels like you are cracking the case together with Detective Holmes! but it's so ex. So not worth it. Hahahaha.

We head off to Apple Ctr to play with MacBooks and MacBook Air as well. We had hell of a time playing with Microsoft softwares on Macbook and surfing internet there as well.

Conclusion after spending 30 min in the Apple Ctr was...WE ARE SO GOING TO SAVE MONEY AND BUY MACBOOK. I want a black macbook! Sexiest thing alive.

Jiahui came shortly and we went for dinner at the hawker ctr coz we decide we shall go budget. Hahahaha.

Head off to Bedok after dinner coz Alan had already arrived in Bedok. We found him waiting in Mac's and I brought up the suggestion of watching Rule #1 in Princess Cinema.

Me: "Come on! It's nice, Jiahui said it's nice!"
Shiyuan: "Yea! Watch la."
Alan: "No I dowan...."
Me: "Oh come on.....watch lah~~~~~..it's not scary~~~~"

After about 10 min of "watch la~~~~~~", Alan gave in. Hahaha. Since Jiahui had work to do and he had watched already, the 3 of us went upstairs to watch it at Princess Cinema. $7 for a show on Friday is pretty cheap!

Well of coz, the cinema is really old...:S
Haven't seen tickets of such material for the longest time.

Crowd of the night for the show was good! So besides being scared, we had a good laugh as well. Doesn't help that in the movie, a really old cinema was being featured -_-. Plot was pretty good, there was a twist to the story and the whole thing was pretty well done la I think.

Alan came out stoned-faced..and I came out laughing(coz I promised I would luff to ease the scariness of the movie. Got a little out of control on my part). And Shiyuan came out saying the scenes were gross. Hahaha.

We went down to join Jiahui and started to discuss the plot. And then our topics moved on to other horror films like Shutter and The Orphanage (to be screened soon). It soon went to ghost stories of army and before we knew it, it was already past midnight :S

We ended our GOOD FRIDAY on a scary note..hahaha..but it was fun!

Look forward to next outing!

第一诫

I saw the trailer when I was watching "Juno". Honestly, I nearly died in my seat.

Maybe it's not scary to you, but imagine that thriller on that big screen. :S

HAHAHAHAHAHAAH.

Anyone up for it?

Muahahahahahahaha.

Those were the days

I was in Bugis yesterday and caught one of Stephen Chow's old movies at Singtel (They were promoting Mio TV).

I stood there, engrossed for a good 15 min before I realise I had to reach home before 1.30pm so I could email the name-card supplier before the 2pm deadline.

Went up to Youtube and found this video..HAHAHAHAHAHA. I recalled showing my sis a couple of months back and it had us laughing so hard, it took us a while before we could stop.

周星驰: 唐伯虎点秋香 (rap part)

Hahahaha. It's hilarious man. It's quite short, like 1min odd only but it brought back so much memories of me, my sis and Julianne just bumming around at home as kids and watching Stephen Chow.

The best part is, it's in Cantonese. Hahaha.

周星驰: Chinese Odyssey II (Only You)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Gawd this is ONE BIG CLASSIC. Hahahahahaha. I remember sometimes my friends still sing it the way Law Kar Ying (The priest)does.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh man it's hilarious.

周星驰: Kong Fu Hustle (Axe Gang's dance scene)

Gawd I love the music. Someone mentioned the title is "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained". But I can't seemed to find it. Hahahaha. It would be nice if I can hear a band play it live. Hahahaha.

This dance had me laughing over and over again. I dunno why.

HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAA.

And last but not least..

周星驰: Shaolin Soccer (被剪掉部分):

This was cut from the movie we saw in the cinemas. Don't understand why it was cut coz it was damn funny!

Oh man the dance. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. And the Jeung Bao guy is actually the guy who walks around with his butt-crack half exposed in Kongfu Hustle. Hahahaha.

PURE DE-STRESSING MAN I TELL YOU.

Oh man, I miss those good old lame shit movies by Stephen Chow.

Lol.

Of catching up and teenage pregnancy

Ok I wanted to include the Airshow 2008 photos in this entry but I figure the entry will be TOO long, so I shall give it a separate entry :)

Last Friday night, my BFF (Best Female Friend) Wendy, was flying back to Australia le. So the old Band clique met up on Friday morning for a nice Dim Sum breakfast:
What's better than good food and a bunch of old friends? :)

Shiyuan and Alan, happy with the food:

Wendy, the mother, scooping porridge for us:
Hahahahaahah.

We had very good chats about touring countries in future when we all have income, future career paths, band concerts and old time memories. Time flew and before we knew it, it was almost noon :S We head off to the library where JiaHui can hand over the NTU Band Concert posters to the Bedok Lib, and then head off home.

Anyway, JiaHui picked up a copy of the Arts Festival performance brochure, and we kinda convinced each other to go for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy concert by Singapore Festive Orchestra (did I even get the name right? Hahahaha) in June. Hahahaha. And it's good to get the tickets fast, for me that is, so as to utilize the student discount. Hahahahahah.

I went home, catch up on some homework and then set off to school to print my tickets for Singapore Airshow 2008 -_-. Yes my bleedy printer died on me once more. Hahahaha.

I didn't send Wendy off because I was stuck in school doing work. But I did call her twice, once before the movie, and another time nearer to her departure time (at 11 plus pm). Telling her I am going to miss her so much and I will keep my milk tea chatting sessions empty until she return in July :) No one can chat everything under the sun over milk tea with me like she does.

Movie with SMUBE was at 6.40pm so I had plenty of time to slack around in school :) Did some job hunting, and then proceeded to do some catching up on work when it all got too tiring :S

Watched "Juno" with about 20 people and it was a great feeling! The last time I joined the MMM (Massive Movie Mania) was when we were watching "300", which was about one year ago. Hahahahaa. :( I should be more active. Hahahahaah.

The show is really nice! In a very simple and real way that is. If you guys dunno the story, it's about Juno, a 16 year old girl who got pregnant after sleeping with her admirer, Paulie. And how she searched for adoptive parents for her baby and discovering in the end how she really loved Paulie despite always being mean to the poor geeky boy. Hahahahaa.

The dialogue rocks man I tell you. The whole cinema was laughing and laughing and "awwwww"-ing away throughout the whole show. It's really a great show, I recommend everyone, anyone to watch it.

Juno's poster:

Kelvin Cen trying to be Juno:
I didn't get to include Kenneth's part of imitating Paulie. Hahahahahah. It was real funny. Hahahahaa.

We had a group shot to commemorate MMM 6 (the 6th MMM that is), and it's with Daryl. When he uploads it (somehow and somewhere..hahah), I will put it up :)

Love watching movies!

Oh just a note, USD has fallen to 1.406SGD to 1 USD. WAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA. It's such a time to go online and do shopping. Hahahaha.

Of shrieks and disappointment

Went for Resident Evil: Extinction yesterday with Sam. It was evidently a shriek-and-put-your-face-under-the-jacket movie. Hahahaha

The cinema was really empty for a Tuesday 2 pm slot so the moment we got in, I didn't waste time in making myself comfortable. Hahaha, slid all the way down deep into the chair..haah

Sam:"You make me feel like I am sitting in an elevated seat."
Me:"Well, there's a lot of leg space what."
Sam:"Coz your legs are short."

Rarrrrrhhhhh. Hahahahaha. I spend half my time hiding one eye from view, so I can avoid any gross scenes at like split second. Hahahah. Kinda looking forward to the 4th one. Oops, did I let off any secret? Hahaha

Got back my Entre Finance midterm today. Awww damn disappointing. Scored near full marks for the last 2 qns. But the 1st qn which is upon 30 marks totally killed me. I mis-read one line of the case and tada! I lost like 12 marks. Bleah.

Nebermind, I make sure I mug like shit for the final one. No more disappointments for myself, especially since the whole GPA was already one major disappointment on its own. Hahahahaha

Oh yea, just realised my Entre Finance prof actually has a Facebook account. Catching up with technologies was actually the key reason. Hahahaah

Coolz

Quote of the day: "There is only one success--to be able to spend your life in your own way."

200 Pounds Beauty

I went to watch this show just now with Yicui and her bro, Jian Zhong. Before watching the show, I just thought that it's probably another lame shit comedy from Korea. I was wrong. The show was fantastic. Out of 10 stars, I will give 9. What happened to the 1? I wished it was a little longer..ahhahaa

Quite obvious from the title of the movie, it's about a 200 pounds girl.

Lead character, Kang Han-Na is a big girl with a warm heart. She wasn't blessed with great looks or a fabulous hot bod, but she have a very good voice.

Because of her physical constraints, she could only lip sync for the sexy 'singer' Ammy (A pretty girl who can't sing a proper note to save her own ass). She could very well leave this job because Ammy was always nasty to her (despite the fact that she really needed Han-Na to sing for her.), but there was one person who kept her firm in her position. It was Sang Jun, Ammy's suave music producer.

Han-Na loves Sang Jun, but of course, it is one-sided. One day, Han-Na receives a package from Sang Jun - a red sexy dress and an invitation to his birthday party. Han-Na was not willing to wear the red dress but did not want to disappoint Sang Jun, and so she turned up at the birthday party in the dress looking like a red Michelin. Sorry to say that..

In actual fact, the package was not sent by Sang Jun, but by Ammy. To Han-Na's horror, the petite Ammy turned up in the same outfit revealing much sexy curves. It was the same night when she overheard Ammy insulting her in front of Sang Jun and how Sang Jun, in actual fact, found Han-Na irritating and ugly.

After that night, Han-Na made a decision. She will have a make-over. She wants to live a life that she was deprived of due to her looks. Her one year disappearance to have a total make-over led to the downfall of Ammy's career as Sang Jun could found no other girl who could sing as well as Han-Na.

After gaining a beautiful appearance, Han-Na takes on a new identity as Jenny, and decide to give her shot at singing again. This time, she wants to be the one dancing and singing on the stage, in front of everyone. She went back to Sang Jun, and Sang Jun was of course more than happy to welcome a new pretty girl who could actually sing. Ammy was then left sitting at the bench while she watched the new girl Jenny slowly gaining popularity with her beautiful face and marvelous voice.

While the new face open up a new world for her, where she was forgiven for the mistakes she make, get the men she desires and being able to perform on stage, she started to lose who she really is. She did not dare to acknowledge her father and best friend, for the fear that her real identity as the fat and ugly Kang Han-Na would be revealed.

This movie is able to bring a complex issue onto the audience and present it in such a warm, light-hearted and understanding manner. At first, I thought I would be in for a superficial and callous movie about plastic surgery. OH was I ever more wrong. 200 Pound Beauty manages to capture the complexity of the issue without it ever bearing down on the film. It is an extremely funny, witty and light-hearted commentary on the trend of plastic surgery in Korea. And it does so with grace, respect and understanding of the subject matter.

There's a really nice song in the show: Maria

This song had an English version too. But for the movie, they made it into Korean. It is sang by the actress herself.

Another nice song in the show: Stars

This is a short version, cant find the long one..but her voice is really nice.

Ahh, this show is really worth watching. Today was a full house at the cinema at Cathay House when I watched it. It was constantly filled with laughters, "aww..so poor thing", "damn that jerk!" and quite a bit of sniffles. The girl next to me cried.

I guess the part of being insecure with being who we are touches everyone in some way or another. Great show, gotta catch it man!
