Descendants of the Sun

If you haven't been living under a rock in the last few weeks, you would probably have heard about this drama already. Actually if you were living under a rock, you might still have heard about it.

Yes because it's that big a deal - it's been viewed over 2 billion times in China and raked in over 40% nation-wide viewership in South Korea. The best part being, the show hasn't even ended its run!

The Koreans have done it again

I thought I could never love another drama so much after My Love From The Star about 2 years ago. Why?!?! Why do this to me?!?!?! Now I'm stuck in it.

I have absolutely no idea why I'm hooked onto it but I guess having 2 strong-minded female leads is the refreshing part for me. It's no longer about 2 needy people who can't make up their minds if they want to be together - and spending the entire drama serial playing hard to get with each other. This show stood out for me because both leads are independent complete individuals (one being the Captain of special forces and one being a doctor/surgeon) who are completely honest with their feelings for each other, right from the start. It's a story of 2 human beings with conflicting values (one saves through death as a soldier who kills for peace and one protects the human lives by being a doctor) who wants and commits to being together and that really worked for me.

Male lead being an absolute eye candy does help too.

Song Hye Kyo has always been my favourite South Korean actress (Autumn in my Heart classic from almost 2 decades away anyone?) and she doesn't look like she aged a single day since her first drama. Laneige skin products are going to fly off the shelves

Sigh. These Koreans are really pros at making you lose touch with reality. It took me a fair bit of discipline not to binge watch and I think that's a healthier way to enjoy such productions. I'm only at episode 5 when most of my friends are already on episode 14 (latest available one)

BRB while I continue swooning over these ridiculously good looking people and an increasingly exciting story line

Grandpa over Flowers

Was channel surfing some months back and this Korean variety show came up. Who would have thought watching 4 elderly men go on a backpacking trip would be so fun and interesting? I most certainly did not!

If you find the title familiar - well because it's a reference to the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers - you know that Korean adaptation of Meteor Garden/Hana Yori Dango featuring the ever famous F4. Since these 4 men are much much older, hence Grandpa over Flowers.

The aim of the show is rather simple - letting 4 elderly actors (Lee Soon Jae at 80 years old, Shin Gu at 79, Park Geun Hyung at 74 and Baek Il Seob at 70) go on a backpacking trip - on a rather tight daily budget of 75 bucks a day filled with public transport and simple backpacker lodges/2-star accommodations. It double up as a travel show - directed mainly at the idea that you can still travel when you are old. They went to Paris for the first season, Taiwan in the second and Spain in the third.

The first season was obviously on a tighter budget. They started getting a little more attention after the second season drove up tourist arrivals from Korea to Taiwan. The third one featuring Spain started to have sponsorship (mostly clothing and air tickets) - the last season was so good the producer (known as Na PD) was awarded a tourism award from the tourism bureau of Spain.

As old folks, obviously they are not going to be concerned with the logistics issues. And in comes the luggage boy (or man since he's already 44 years old) in tow. He's Lee Seo Jin, a Korean actor most famous for his role in Lovers and Yi San.

Given the emphasis on hierarchy in the Korean culture, Lee was pretty much the luggage boy/hotel booker/nanny/manager/human GPS et cetera. At 44 years old, which he mentioned was the age to be served by most people, he was reduced to being the baby of the team. The best part was - which was shown in the first season - he was actually scammed into going on the trip. He thought he was going to Paris for a luxury art tour with Kpop girl bands! So imagine his shock when he was thrown into this role for the next 10D9N in Paris with 4 extremely senior folks (both professionally and in age) - with no hotels booked and no itinerary planned.

The show surprised me in so many ways and the whiny yet obedient Lee was definitely icing on the cake. Beautiful scenery and history lessons aside (given how many churches and museums there are in Paris and Spain), the best part of the show was the wise words from these Halbaes ("Grandpa" in Korean). How during their younger days, all they did was worked very hard and never stopping for a moment to enjoy life or travel. When they finally had enough money, they realized they have aged. Their spirit to keep learning, being open to experiences and gratitude in small things really makes the show shine. I coaxed my mum into watching one episode of it and now she's absolutely hooked! Haha.

In a heartwarming fuzzy way, seeing these 4 elders reminds me of my own grandfather who passed away about 7 years ago. My mum says it reminds her of my grandpa and granduncle - especially when one of actors really resembles him in appearance.

It is possible to laugh and tear a little while watching this show. Highly recommend it! :)

PS: I laughed so hard reading the recaps ;)

K love

Hola!

I'm still alive. :)

New management in the company + new role in office = madness in my real world. In order to escape from the new office craziness in the form of a German CEO, I've rediscovered the beauty of Korean dramas.

Have stayed away from them for the longest time (besides the epic ones based history or decent storylines) mainly because I'm quite done with the senseless crying, unnecessary suffering for love and the incessant need for at least one character to die of cancer/lose memory due to accident.

Honestly I can't remember how I picked up on the latest K-hit - My Love from the star (or some calls it My Love from another star - 来自星星的你). I reckon it must be the endless features across newspapers and Taiwan/China news.

By Korean drama standard, it's a pretty fresh genre. Alien/human love story (think Twilight and I don't know other weird vampires/zombies love stories maybe?) but Koreans being Koreans, it obviously ended up being more rom-com than weird. I remember scoffing at it when I first read it off the papers. Are you kidding me? Alien and human? Ludicrous.

I was so wrong. And I'm glad I'm wrong. The casting was excellent (especially the female lead - Jun Ji Hyun. Remember that baby-fat face actress in My Sassy Girl donkey years ago?) and the storyline didn't fail (at least to me and the 1 billion people across Asia who viewed the final episode on Thursday). There were more funny scenes than sobbing ones - where the tear-filled ones were well balanced enough for you to feel the pain yet not too over the top.

There were just too many classic scenes that still cracks me up. Love how the female lead is different from the traditional sobbing/weak/"I can't fight for my love"/whiny Korean female characters - she's strong, over confident (which is absolutely funny) and definitely fights for her love. Jun Jin Hyun carried the role extremely well and definitely in style, with all the clothes, accessories that she dons on selling like hot cakes thereafter. Kim Soo Hyun (best known for his emperor role in Korea's 2012 epic drama hit - The Moon that embraces the Sun, where it achieved the viewership of half of South Korea) did a terrific job as the alien who spent 400 years on planet earth  as well.

Superficial stuff aside, I liked that the show covered a deeper side of life - that time is not a matter of how long it is, but a matter who you spent it with/what you do with it. As an alien who didn't age and spent 400 years on earth, it never occurred to the male lead that time was precious and limited. It was until he fell in love with the female lead 3 months before he had to depart from the earth when he realized the value of relationship, love and precious moments that the "foolish humans" hanker for. There was hardly a dull episode in the entire series and I'm thankful the ending was not crappy (or it would have ruined the whole series). In fact, it was unexpected but satisfying at the same time.

Read about the show here.
Read the episode recaps here (love the way they write it)

If there's absolutely one K-drama you have to watch, I highly recommend this one. It's extremely addictive. Don't say I didn't warn you ;)

Current Addiction: Secret Garden

You know you have to watch a certain Korean drama when 2 of your male friends insist you do. To put things in perspective, they were never the kind who even had the time to catch anything remotely close to awesome shows like How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory. Ok scrap that, they don't even watch TV or shows of any sorts. Hahaha.

Anyway, back to the show. Secret Garden is pretty much your usual Korean drama - dashing rich perfect male lead and your poor righteous pretty female lead. Guy meets girl, guy falls in love with her. Him being rich and all, never understood poverty and in his bids to make her life better, it just made it seemed like he looks down on her. You know the usual.

It has however, a little bit of twist to the storyline. After each consumed a bottle of flower wine purchased from a weird lady who resides in a dingy restaurant in the middle of nowhere called Secret/Mystery Garden - their souls would swap every time there's a rainstorm. And that's when the fun begins. Another plus point would be the female lead is not your usual frail princessy "I need to be rescuedddddd!" girly girl. In the show, she's a stunt woman who has quite a bit of a feisty temper and tolerates no nonsense when it came to her career and her dignity.

I admit I was a little turned off by the storyline when it first aired in 2010 and hence was not caught in the entire Secret Garden storm back then. 9 episodes on now in 2012 and I can safely say, I totally understood why it had the highest viewership that year. The plot is amazingly seamless, and the lines are so so classic. Although the main storyline is predictable (meaning I presume it's going to be a happy ending), the scriptwriters still manage to throw in some surprises every episode ;)

Most importantly, come on, who can resist Hyun Bin, especially when he's in a 3-piece suit ;-)

The OST is beautiful as well. My favourite thus far has to be the one sang by Hyun Bin - "That Man". I remember hearing it a few years back and never knew who sang it and what it meant. Man, the lyrics are soooooooo good.

Okay time to go to bed :) Super long day tomorrow! Good night world :) xoxo

Ooo them sexy legs

I'm not the biggest fan of fashion shows because they bore me most of the time.

However, I do look forward to one each year. Yes! Victoria's Secret Fashion Show! Watch the full show here!!

Endless legs ftw :D

Silence of Love

The Thai-s have this way of making their commercials creatively hilarious or way too touching.

This one made me cry man.

"Maybe there is no perfect dad in this world, but only one who loves you more than anything in the world."

Personal Preference (개인의 취향 )

I'm so hooked onto this show now - managed to comb through 7 episodes of it in the midst of my all-sleep-and-nothing-else weekend ever since I got back from Shanghai on Friday night

Doesn't help that the dude is so gorgeous!!

Even when his hair is not combed properly.
Back to drama madness!

Criminal Minds

I love Criminal Minds.

It's so cool to be a criminal profiler! (Ok I know it's only TV). I love how they always start and end the show with a quote (and very relevant to the show).

Did I mention I really love Aaron Hotchner?

So hot la. (Yes he was the Greg in Dharma loves Greg.)

More We Got Married

I'm currently at episode 22 (I haven't progressed from Boys Over Flowers yet..lol) for We Got Married.

Oh it's just really really really funny. And this episode takes the cake so far - Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo (known as the JoongBo couple)goes for a wedding shoot to commemorate the 100th day they are together as "married" couple.

I totally love how he makes his "wife" laugh out loud ALL THE TIME. LOL

Ok maybe all the episodes with them takes the cake. As what Amanda says, it's really the bombs. HAHA

We Got Married

I haven't been watching Boys Before Flowers these days (no I will stil catch up with it when the DVD is ready - streaming is a pain in the ass) - because I am now chasing We Got Married!

It's a really popular reality show in Korea which features celebrities being matched up randomly and they have to complete missions every week together as a "married" couple and actually live together like one.

My favourite couple (both personally and by polls) - of course is BBF's Kim Hyun Joong (the Yoon Ji Hoo) and female singer Hwang Bo (who's about 6 years older than him).

I've only watched random episodes - it's so damn hilarious!

One of my favourite episodes - where they spent their first night together as a couple. Oh the mosquitoes killing part in the villa was really really funny:

This episode where KHJ plays the piano and have a little competition with the "wife" on high pitch singing is equally funny:

I jumped right to the last few episodes (when Kim Hyun Joong starts to film the Boys Before Flowers and hence has to leave the production of We Got Married) - where he did manicure for his "wife" and fell asleep mid way because filming was too tiring:

I have yet to catch the episodes in between but seeing the difference between first and last few episodes, I believe those in the middle must be pretty hilarious too. Amanda, I hope this will not give you ideas to make Eugene do that for you. LOL
And what's more interesting is to see Kim Hyun Joong's real side. LOL
Oh the sense of humour.

And then more Boys Before Flowers (꽃보다 남자)

My current playlist on the iPod is just BBF's soundtrack. It's great!

1) Paradise by T-Max:

2) Starlight Tears (별빛눈물) - Kim Soo Young:

3) Stand By Me - SHINee:

I have so much motivation to go revive my Korean Language notes like pronto. Haha

And listening to this person play Starlight Tears on piano..:

Makes me want to practise my piano too!!!!!!

Ok I need to go reply some emails. Back to planet earth. LOL

More Boys Before Flowers

I am currently at episode 4.

I'm starting to think...Gu Jun-Pyo (the supposedly Tsukasa Doumoyouji 道明寺 司- leader of F4) is more gorgeous! He's extremely charismatic in the show- he has got to be the best Doumoyouji so far!

The Leader of F4 look:

Those trademark Doumoyouji curly locks. HAHA
He looks pretty good as the normal Lee Min Ho (real name):

He's only....22!!!!! OMG.
We have reached a time when the current hottest idols..are younger than us.. O.O
Another character worth mentioning is Kim Bum who acts as So Yi Jung - The Casanova in the clique (the supposedly Nishikado Soujiro - the one Ken Chu acted in the Taiwan version aka 西门 总二郎):

I never used to pay attention to the other 2 side kicks of F4..but this one is one good looking dude! He's only...19 years old! My god.
This is too much.
I am kinda looking forward to this episode though - where Yoon Ji Hoo (the supposedly Hanazawa Rui - 花泽 类) has finally cut those girly locks!:

Looks less gay that is. Hahaha. One thing I still don't get is why Ji Hoo's character (Hanazawa Rui) must ALWAYS look so emo. Geez.
I am currently very in love with this drama - so do not expect much updates on anything else.
XD

Boys Before Flowers II

I just finished watching the 1st episode of BBF.

Yoon Ji Hoo is sooooooooooooooooooooo HAWT. Enough said.

Boys Before Flowers

Amanda's entry on Boys Before Flowers is making me want to watch too!

This is the korean version of Meteor Garden aka Hana Yori Dango:

Shit. The boys just get better and better looking with every re-make of these F4 thingys.
This is the first time I actually think the Hanazawa Rui, looks like a freaking Hanazawa Rui!

Guys are getting beautifulllll these days. LOL

Gossip Girl

Rarrhhhhh

I am super addicted to Gossip Girl. I think I have too many addictions of late. Lol

I even find the opening of the show:

incredibly attractive. Especially the xoxo part. Haha

So what's Gossip Girl about?

Gossip Girl is an American television teen drama inspired by the popular novel series of the same name, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Gossip Girl satirizes and revolves around the lives of socialite young adults growing up on New York City's Upper East Side who attend elite academic institutions while dealing with sex, drugs, jealousy, and other teenage issues.

Nobody knows who Gossip Girl is. She has her own Gossip Girl blog and people subscribes to her gossipy updates on handphones as well. And she always sign off with a xoxo. LOL. Gosh love it man.

A little intro:

Can you totally smell the bitchiness in the show? Haha.

Here's episode one, I hope it works:

Be careful, you will totally get addicted.

Someone download Gossip Girl for me!!!!!! I am getting all edgy just waiting for it to load!

My love will get you home

Besides "Starry starry night", this is the other song which Hong-Kong drama, Heart of Greed (溏心风暴) got me hooked on. This is also one of the rare Hongkie drama which I actually have the urge to finish it. The plot is tight, the cast are good, the music is great.

It's been the song to accompany me to bed these days coz it's so peaceful, so simple.

My love will get you home - Christine Glass

If you wander off too far, my love will get you home.
If you follow the wrong star, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If the bright lights blinds your eyes, my love will get you home.
If your troubles break your stride, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever feel ashamed, my love will get you home.
When there's only you to blame, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home,
Boy, my love will get you home.

And after the show, I finally understand why Shou Woon wants a Chang Zai Xin (female lead in the video clip) for New Year. Lol.

I wouldn't mind Alfred although he cheated on her once. Haha.

黄金路

I am so hooked onto The Golden Path! Omg! It's one of the rare Channel 8 shows I really think has a pretty good plot and has a strong cast to go with it.

I am catching up on the episodes on www.tudou.com Those who haven't watched it, go watch it on Tudou!

It's worth a watch, I swear.

Hana Kimi - 花样少年少女

You must be thinking that I am crazy to post this at like 6 smth am in the morning. Hahaha..I just finished my Doing Business in China report. The brain is still in a rather active mode while I am sipping my milo now. So I shall write a post to freshen up my day before starting on my Analysis of Equity Investment assignment.

I mention I will write an entry on this show when I am free. So I am spaced out for about 20 min while I drink my milo..so I shall write it..hahaha

Hanazakarino Kimitachihe (Hana Kimi for short) - 花样少年少女

This is once again another Taiwan drama serial that have created a storm across various asian countries like Taiwan itself, Hong Kong, M'sia, Singapore, even in China and Japan as well. It just ended its run in Taiwan last Sunday to a a high record of 8 million viewers (if I nv rem wrongly..)..and now it is still being aired in Singapore on Channel U during weekdays at 7pm.

I haven't been watching the show that faithfully on tv due to constant meetings that eat into my 7pm timeslot. But I do watch a few episodes once in a while on youtube when I am in the mood to wait for it to stream. Basically the storyline was read off the net, through some of the episodes I watched and...glancing across to Huai Fong's laptop during Monetary Economics class a few days ago (coz she was watching the final episode during class! and of coz, Hama Kimi was more interesting than the reduction in societal burdens with financial intermediaries lesson prof was going through! But then again, I read that before class le, so it was boring.)

So what is the show about? Let's go through it. And me being me, I am never that brief..ahhaha..So let's go!

Character 1: Lu Ruixi (卢瑞希) acted by S.H.E's Ella

Lu Ruixi is a bubbly 17 year old girl (Duh) who admires the talented high-jumper Zuo YiQuan (左以泉). When news reports and magazines reviews could no longer satisfy her desire to know more about this boy, she decided to leave USA (where she was staying) and got herself transferred to Ekcope High School (樱开男子学院) which was in Taiwan, so she could get a step closer her idol. The problem? Ekcope High School is a boys school and she is a girl. The only way out? Snip her long locks, pose as a boy, and get enrolled. Lucky for her, she was posted to the same class as Zuo YiQuan (Class 1C) and even staying in the same hostel room, Number 205.

Video 1: Introduction ot Lu Ruixi

Her admiration soon turned to love as they shared most of their high school life together in the same class, same group of friends and in the same room. But how can she confess her love, when she is a "he"?

I kinda think Ella is the best choice for this role because this character is very cheerful and Ella convincingly pose as a pretty boyish character in the show. At least it doesn't make the viewers feel that, "hey I believe someone can do better than her."

Character 2: Zuo YiQuan (左以泉) acted by Fahrenheit's Wu Zun (飞轮海 - 吴尊)

Ok I couldn't find a photo of him in the uniform, so heck la. But can I say something...He has gotta be the prettiest/handsome/watever chinese actor I ever seen man. I will so write an entire blog entry on him one of these days...coz he's the perfect example of what I call "Heaven is unfair la..." case. Even my guy frens are praising that he is truly handsome. That's rare. Or should I say nv happened before..I gotta try my hand at 4D these days..

As mentioned in the description above, 17 year old Zuo YiQuan is a talented high-jumper and was expected to be the next up and rising star in the sports world. But a car accident made him believe his bright future was ruined and that he could never jump again.

Ruixi was a pain in the ass at first because she made a pretty big fuss after knowing that Zuo YiQuan has given up high jumping (oh well she dressed as a boy ,came all the way to Taiwan to see him jump! Did have slightly of a right to make a fuss la..) But her relentless efforts in encouraging him to go back to high-jumping finally gave him to courage to return to his favourite sport.

Video 2: Introduction of Zuo YiQuan

Ruixi always thought she hid her identity as a girl pretty well but in actual fact Zuo YiQuan found out about her female status soon after she got transferred. She was knocked out cold during a soccer match with Jin XiuYi (金秀伊) and it was when Zuo YiQuan carried her to the clinic then her female identity was uncovered. Zuo YiQuan kept mum about it because he wanted to find out the reason behind why she went through so much trouble posing as a boy and stuff. Not even Ruixi knows that Zuo YiQuan already knows that she is a girl.

But Ruixi is a careless girl, and always in the attempts to prove that she is very "MAN" to the boys, she always engage in activities that expose her to the risk of her blowing her cover. This gave Zuo YiQuan a lot of work in protecting her and keeping her away from risky ventures.

And it was before long, that protecting Ruixi became part of his life and love starts to blossom. But how can he confess his love when Ruixi doesn't know her cover has been blown and that both of them will not face expulsion from the school if everything gets uncovered?

I kinda think he made a pretty good candidate for this role too since in real life, he was a fitness instructor before becoming an actor by accident. I mean, seriously, that kind of looks is quite difficult to miss out even in a crowd of people..ahhaa..Although his mandarin sounded a bit funny in the first few episodes (since he is from Brunei, let's all be kind here..), overall I think it's pretty good la.

Character 3: Jin XiuYi (金秀伊) acted by Fahrenheit's Jiro Wang (飞轮海 - 汪东城)

Jin XiuYi is a super sunshine 17 year old boy who's talented in soccer and is Zuo YiQuan's best friend. He shares the same class as both YiQuan and Ruixi but stays in Room 203 with Sima Shu (司马树), a boy who enjoys talking to spirits and freaking all his friends out.

Because he knocked Ruixi out cold in one of the soccer matches, he felt a deep sense of guilt with regards to the "vulnerable Ruixi", and so he became Ruixi's best friend and swore to protect "him" from any future harm. But the feminism that leaks out of Ruixi once in a while made XiuYi extremely attracted to "him" and it came to a stage where XiuYi was convinced he's gay and that he is willing to give up all girls just to be with Ruixi. Even if it means having to declare he is gay in front of everyone in school.

Video 3: Introduction of Jin XiuYi

The friendship between YiQuan, Ruixi and XiuYi then became a weird and hilarious triangle love relationship.

For this character, ok Jiro Wang is like the best choice I can see from the rest of the Taiwanese actors available. Although his acting is abit drama once in a while but it does add a lot of comical effects to the whole show. pretty good choice for this character.

Character 4: Liang Si Nan (梁思南) acted by Danson Tang Yu Zhe (唐禹哲)

The cool and slightly aloof hostel head of Dormitory 2, which is home to all the 3 characters mentioned above. Often called upon as 南学长 (Senior Nan) in the show. Pretty-boy Casanova with reputation of "any girl can get pregnant by just talking to him". Shows a little interest in Ruixi at first because "he" still felt like a girl to Nan.

Video 4: Introduction of Liang Si Nan

Danson Tang is indeed, once again I am gonna say, a good candidate for this character coz his eyes are so....casanova-ish..ahahha

Character 5: Mei Tian (梅田) acted by Tang Zhi Ping (唐治平)

This is one cool character man. Mei Tian is the gay school doctor and the 2nd person to know of Ruixi's female identity (1st was Zuo YiQuan). He is also the uncle of the school's Casanova, Liang Si Nan (look above). Initially he did not want to expose Ruixi because he wanted to see fun things unfold in school, and also because he believe he can be a bystander in the entire episode, just stand around and watch fun unfolds by itself. However, his promise to keep Ruixi's real identity a secret made him the first person Ruixi turns to whenever she runs into trouble. Be it loaning a dress, curing her menstrual cramps, MCs to skip swimming classes etc. Totally drives him crazy!

Tang Zhi Ping really did this character. He made Mei Tian a very cute gay without overdoing it. Love the "flip the fringe with 2 of his hands" action man...hahahah

Character 6: Sima Shu (司马 树) - acted by Ah Chord (阿 Chord)

Sima Shu (the one on extreme left, followed by Wu Zun and then another character in the show, can't rem the name..) is Jin XiuYi's room-mate and the classmate of all 3 main characters. Commonly called as Da Shu (大树) in the show. He has the ability to talk to spirits and it is common for him to talk to "nobody" all of a sudden in the show. He likes to drive everyone crazy by telling his friends that there is "some other figures" standing behind them. XiuYi is always asking around if anyone wants to trade this room-mate with him because he always lose sleep over what Da Shu says.

This character is so freaking funny and I think Ah Chord did this role really well, esp with his weird Jap hairdo with a chopstick across the bun on his head.

Character 7: Lee Cheng Yang (李承央) - acted by Yang Hao Wei (杨皓惟)

Lee Cheng Yang (left in the top picture with Jiro and right in the bottom one with Wu Zun), the "sweet-heart" idol of Ekcope High School because he is a very girlish person. Affectionately known as Yang Yang (ok he made people call him that), he is secretly in love with Liang Si Nan. Saw Ruixi as an enemy at first because "he" was cuter than him and Yang Yang thought Ruixi is interested in Liang Si Nan as well as Si Nan was very nice to Ruixi. After an incident (I can't be bothered to explain..), Ruixi and Yang Yang became pretty good friends.

Yang Yang is one irritating character to my sister coz he is so "niang" but I think he is quite cute leh..i mean not as in the gorgeous cute but the character is very cute. ahahaha

Ok! Done with the introduction of the main characters and should know the storyline by now ba..hahaha

It's a happy show, really.

There are 2 songs in this show that's especially nice..Well even my brudder Shaun finds it nice la! Even John finds it nice lo! hahaha..nv tot John listens to pop songs..hahaah..(and i still can't believe Shaun and John watch it too..)so I shall put the video here. The lyrics for Tank's song is really nice. Been listening to these songs on loop these days.

Song 1: 怎么办 by S.H.E (Theme song of show) - Starring S.H.E and Fahrenheit's Wu Zun

Song 2: 专署天使 by Tank (Ending song of show) - Starring Tank, Ella and Wu Zun

Enjoy!~!Great mood now and my breakfast is back from the market. Thanks dad! Will start on Equity Investments hmwork and then set off to school for Ethics meeting! Let's just pray I dun die off before today is over..ahahah

It's a super nice show and I like the MTV also..The lyrics are pretty good..esp the one that says:

孤单是一个人的狂欢
狂欢是一群人的孤单

Very nice.

PS: Those who watched The Rose with me will know this song :)

恶作剧之吻

OK I am NOT done with the show yet but kinda know the story ending by reading it off the net :) AHHHHHH so nice! I really prefer it to the Japanese version 7 years ago man! Given I am at around episode 12 now, I have heard most of the songs of the OST. AHHHH!!!!! Uber nice!!!! All the songs are really good. No wonder this show topped the ratings charts for 18 weeks in Taiwan when it first came out. Progressed to top the ratings charts in Japan, Hong Kong and China as well. Ahhh, nice songs, good cast, good storyline and one of my favourite directors :) No wonder it was a hit :)

恶作剧之吻 aka It started with a Kiss

This was the Jap version I watched about 6 years ago. It was a show made in 1999 and became an instant hit because it was based on one of the best selling manga at that time. And of course, the cast was good back then too :)

And then 7 years later.....came the Taiwan chinese version which was a super blast hit Joseph Zheng Yuan Chang (郑元畅) as the male lead and Ariel Lin Yi Cheng (林依晨) as the female lead :)

There's a chinese saying that goes:

"男追女隔座山,女追男隔片纱"

Which means when a guy courts a girl, it's as difficult as climbing over one mountain. But when a girl courts a guy, it's just past one piece of veil. Apparently, this does not apply to this drama.

Yuan Xiang Qin (袁湘琴) acted by Ariel Lin comes from a single parent family. She only has her father (also known as Uncle Cai -才叔) and he runs a small eatery. She is a bubbly and simple-minded 18 year old girl who studies in Dou Nan High School (斗南高中). This school's system categorise students according to their abilities and she.......belongs to F class, which is deemed the worst and has the most no-brainers. Quoted from the principal: "Well, we need people to pay school fees to pay for the facilities we are providing for the A, B classes people!" On the 1st day of school, where freshmen were to attend the Welcoming Ceremony, she fell in love with a guy. It was love at first sight.

And this guy is Jiang Zhi Shu (江直树) acted by Joseph Zheng Yuan Chang. He comes from a rich family and was the freshmen presentative as he entered the high school with the highest grade ever - full marks. Zhi Shu is a super genius with IQ 200, very good with sports, and the deadliest thing was, he is tall and gorgeous. Every girl loves him, but I guess Xiang Qin's love was very much different from the rest, right from the start.

Song 1: Say U Love me by Jason and Lara (from Nan Quan Mama)

In the last year of high school, which was the 3rd year, she decides it's time to confess her love. Because she knows it's never possible for them to end up in the same university. Given that Jiang Zhi Shu's grades has always been the 1st in school and always, full 600 marks for every exam. While she, never even made it past 200 (Quoted from the principal once again, who said this to the F class teacher: "Your entire class's combined grades can't even win one Jiang Zhi Shu?!") So she wrote a love letter and figure she will not get rejected. Stupidly enough, she chose the morning assembly time slot and tried to give it to him at the assembly area. Jiang Zhi Shu simply ignored her and she became the laughing stock of the entire school.

Jin Feng Yuan (金丰元) is Xiang Qin's classmate and has been holding a torch for her since year 1. Just like how Xiang Qin holds a torch for Zhi Shu since year 1, Jin's love never got a reply. His biggest dream in life is to quit school after high school and become a chef so he can take over Xiang Qin's father small eatery and marry Xiang Qin.

The day Xiang Qin got rejected, was also the day her house collapsed due to earthquake. Well, you can say it's the most depressing day of her 18 years of life. The next day she went to school with posters written all over the school ridiculating her and what made it worst was Jin went around the school asking for donations, quoting her sad situation. When Jiang Zhi Shu walked past, Jin demands that he makes a donation since he is so rich. In an attempt to get rid of the F class people bugging him, he took out a big note and decides to contribute. In fit of anger, Xiang Qin took Zhi Shu's money and threw back at him. "I don't need your money! Dun think just because you are a genius you can look down on people!" was what she said.

And his reply was :"Oh so who was the one who declared her love for me? And one more thing, stop liking me. I hate girls, with no brains."

Song 2: 全世界的人都知道

In a fit of anger, Xiang Qin says she will get good grades in this final year exam and get into the top 100 of the school, so as to prove that she has brains. But the thing was...in the entire history of Dou Nan High School, no F class student has ever reached Top 100. What a daunting task.

(from L to R) Zhi Shu, Xiang Qin, Zhi Shu's dad (Uncle Li), Zhi Shu's mum (Auntie Li) and Xiang Qin's dad (Uncle Cai). Ah look at how disgustingly tall the male lead is. Towers over everyone at 1.88m :S<

The news of her collapsed house was broadcasted on TV and Jiang Zhi Shu's parents saw it. And surprise surprise, they are actually Uncle Cai's secondary school best friends! In light of the plight of their best friend, Jiang Zhi Shu's parents, Uncle and Auntie Li (利叔 和 利嫂) decides to take Xiang Qin and his father in. Living under the same roof only makes Zhi Shu more irritated with Xiang Qin, but Xiang Qin falling harder in love with Zhi Shu.

Song 3: 遇到

>Auntie Li is a very feminine person. She always dream of having a daughter to wear lacy dresses and do cooking together with her. But "unfortunately" (what she always say), she has 2 boring sons who are too smart and too aloof for her interests. Just like how everyone has skeletons in their closets, the genius Zhi Shu has too. When he was young, his mother loved dressing him up as a girl (because she yearned for one so much) and took an entire album of photos of him in female wear. And that was the reason she believed, that made him cold towards others, especially girls. Xiang Qin requested for a photo and the film for the photos because she has a plan, an evil one :)

Zhi Shu's mum and Xiang Qin. Seriously, how much more lacy can a person get...

She threatens Zhi Shu to coach her for the upcoming exam and then if he dun, she will paste the photos all over the school. Left with no choice, Zhi Shu was forced into coaching her late into the nite all the way to exams. And surprisingly, she made it into the 100th seat with 416 marks!

Unknowingly, it has shortened the distance between them :)<

Song 4: 靠近一点点 (By Lara from Nan Quan Ma Ma)

Zhi Shu may be a genius, but he never knows what he wants. Everything was always within his expectations and meaningless, and there was nothing difficult for him in life. And in addition to the childhood female wear past that made him aloof, was his lack of interest in the things happening ard him. Growing up in a protected environment, he nv had to work hard for money and given his intelligence, he nv had to work hard in school. Everything was so easy to the extent, it wasn't interesting anymore.

Well, until Xiang Qin comes into the picture and turn his world upside down with all the stupid things and troubles she get herself into, and involving him all at the same time. Things beyond his control begin to happen. And that was only when he knows, she has become part of the life he has always wanted.

Song 5:恶作剧

The show went on all the way to them working but it's not boring at all nia, though it's like way longer than the japanese version. Why not boring? Coz Xiang Qin got into too much crazy shit and fun things with Zhi Shu..hahaha.. It has quite a bit of twists and turns ard. This Taiwan version is more comical and has more emotional rollercoasters I guess. AHHH!!!!

And one thing is, I guess this show is not all about love. It involves searching for one's dream, kinship, learning to care and probably most impt, u gotta be true to yourself :)

Realise how all the songs are sang by girls? Coz it's meant to depict emotions faced by the female lead in the show. Only one song was sang by a guy, which depicts Zhi Shu's feelings.

Song 6: 后悔

It's a really nice song too! AHHH...all the songs are so nice!

Ok, I shall end the entry with the NG shots...buahah! Enjoy!
